They are an awesome band. Room 409 is probably their best song.

I wrote a Four-Part percussion piece for a project in AP Music Theory by arranging "Tears Don't Fall."

I was happy, it turned out really well, I wish I would have recorded the performance of it or something.

I'm going to tell you what i told someone who said that "The Poison" was one of the best albums of the decade, and upon disagreeing with that statement, him asking me how i could say otherwise:

Quote:
while i do like some of BFMV's music, The Poison is nowhere near one of the best albums this past decade. not saying that they're a bad band, they aren't, just that a majority of their music i've heard has the same old verse-chorus-verse-solo-chorus structure and style that's basically uninspired and dull compared to a multitude of other bands. they're good at what they do, but if they can make an album where they actually go outside of their comfort zone and actually try to take risks and create something original, then i'll consider it.

Good point Antonio, the poison is a kickass album, but best album of the year.....I dont know, I heard their new song that posted here and I thought it sucked, like I said earlier in this thread I think BFMV is going to start heading down the road that I would rather not see them heading down, and that is making ****ty, more pop that rock music, you already seen it happen a bit if you lisen to The Poison then listen to Scream Aim Fire, I think they should switch the stucture in which they make songs , like you said, and I think it would be realy cool if they would make songs that are along the lines of how Tool makes songs, **** man, Tool mixed with BFMV would be awesome.

yea, i remember reading an interview where the singer said that the vocals and what people sing to are what sells records

Quote:
The band has had its share of critics, and since moving in a more accessible direction, it has made you easier targets from them. How have you learnt to deal with that side of the industry?

I’ve never been bothered by it. We just write music for us first and foremost and if people like it, then that is cool. And obviously millions of people do! And we’re not going to change what we do because people may think it is cool or un-cool. We just write music and if we think it is good, we put it on a CD.

The decision to write more in major keys on Scream Aim Fire has made the songs sound, for want of a better word, much pop-ier. Was that a conscious decision or a natural progression?

I think it is a natural thing because if a song is in a major key, it is immediately going to be more uplifting and happier sounding. But we’re not afraid to try different things and if the song is good enough in a major key, then it will be put on the album. We are focusing more towards the vocals these days because it is the most important part of the song really regardless if you’re in a metal band or a jazz band or whatever. The vocal is what people sing along to and what sells records and not shredding.
here's the whole thing if you want to see it

who cares if a band is repetitive. There are tons of other bands that are just as repetitive as they are anyways. I just wish they would get away from the poppy rock sound, and go back to their original style. SAF was alright, but like half the cd was more of a filler too complete the album. Matt also lost his voice at the time they made that album, so that is probably why it was less heavy. This new song sounds better than anything on SAF, especially the solo.
