Who's your favorite guitarist?
 

Mine is Jimmy Page and all three from Iron Maiden.

My number 1 favorite would probably be Hendrix or Page, followed by Gilmour, May, Santana, EVH, Howe, Fripp, Morello, countless others.

Feels like we have at least a 100 of these threads, but anyway...
My favourite guitarplayer is Jimi still. "Voodoo Chile", "Castles Made Of Sand", "1983... (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)"...
He's awesome.
But I like Mark Knopfler too. Saw him live. I mean, he's 56 now and he played that solo of "Sultans Of Swing" like hell. Damn. I was staring at his fingers all the time.

i cant even choose between those four. or any of my others.

i also like syd barrets guitar playing, its not impressive technically but its full of passion - especially on his solo albums

Aside from the beer and the metal cred mandatory mention of Dime, i'd say this is the most intelligent post you've made.

I love the way this guy plays. After all I've said, I won't deny him. I was listening to Metallica on the way home today, The Unforgiven was playing, the solo in this is fantastic.

I think Zakk Wylde deserves a mention, even though he's a moron, he can still play damn well. Get Soil- Halo live at Ozzfest 2002 feat. Zakk Wylde, the solo will blow you away.

Hes damn good, very skilled, but i dont really dig his style at all(i liked the no more tears solo and thats about it), he overuses Pinch Harmonics and his tone leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.

Wow, you deserve a award for even knowing who knopfler is, not enough people do, his picking on Sultans of Swing = Sublime.

Nothing its just the fact hes not as good as a guitarist as everyone makes him out to be.

He is good but ever since he died hes being put along side hendrix and vai and i think its bullshit.

Dimebag was a fecking legend... But yeah, as always, death spins stuff outta control. Doesnt make him not good though :)
