Hell yeah, Primus are one of the most original bands out there, they are really unique, dont belong to any catagory persay, but i could call them Funky Prog Metal Bluegrass Polka, and yes i just made that up. =)

i love primus... and that dude is an inspiration, better than stu hamm in my opinion...

Soundgardener 09-18-2005 01:59 PM

I'm glad someone finally made a thread about all of the projects of Claypool. I'm a fan of everything off of Prawn Song Records...with the exception of Gabby La La. I haven't really listened to enough of her stuff to have a good perception of the music. I just ordered LCFB's Purple Onion, which should be awesome.

PhishFood 09-18-2005 03:04 PM

and if you haven't heard Eyball in the sky.... man, Claypool with Buckethead, what could be any better?

Soundgardener 06-06-2006 02:23 PM

Anybody buy Of Whales and Woe by the Les Claypool fancy band? I really like it. Les plays drums on a lot of the tracks, which is interesting.

Muzak 06-06-2006 04:46 PM

Love Primus.

boo boo 06-06-2006 04:52 PM

It annoys me when when people bash Les Claypool simply because they don't like Primus, the guy has been in a handful of different bands... Not just Primus.

swim 06-06-2006 04:57 PM

I love everything he's done. Amazing.

Levithan 06-06-2006 04:57 PM

I hate Claypool. Dont get me wrong, fantastically skilled, just doesnt do it for me. Takes more than just talent to be a great bass player in my eyes...

boo boo 06-06-2006 05:19 PM

Oh i got ya, attitude, every bassist needs attitude... Like this guy.

^That OWNS.

Claypool is a great bassist, he's got skill and showmanship. And he makes it look damn easy. His vocals are wierd but they have an aquired taste (I like them alot). I <3 Primus

tdoc210 08-25-2006 08:53 PM

^ But But..leviathn ... eh.. I got Eyeball In the Sky which falls nothing short of amazing.

rsnjeff 08-25-2006 11:10 PM

Les is amazing and I wish I could do somethings on guitar that he does on bass.

tdoc210 08-27-2006 05:06 PM

^ ermm well its kinda not the same.

MoonlitSunshine 08-28-2006 12:02 PM

Yeah, that's half of the genius of it. Loads of people have messed around with a guitar, but the bass lines he comes up with...

Muzak 08-28-2006 12:30 PM

I reciently recieved The Sane Asylum by Blind Illusion, Les Claypool was in it. Check it out. http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=684

Edit: Sample audio: http://vibrationsofdoom.com/test/BlindIllusion.html

judas_priest 08-29-2006 01:05 PM

I've only heard Claypool in primus, but I think he's a brilliant bassist, and primus are very good.

boo boo 08-29-2006 01:12 PM

Oysterhead are an extremely bizzare band, you would have to be totally tripping balls to really get into them.

it is a really great album, the production is rather thin, but they are excellent
progressive thrash

i wish they would reissue this cd, since it is out of print
