I think for a band to have a unique style and ever changing one as well and to stay around and be successful and popular recording good music as long as 311 has is a great accomplishment

I think Flavor Flav (Booooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii) said it best when he said 311`s a joke

Or it was something like that.

Hands down, one of the best bands ever. I haven't really listened to anything from From Chaos on -
I have listened to their first 5 albums many times, and have to say they're awesome. Great musicians, and they write about a lot of interesting things. The album Transistor was a concept album devoted to singer S.A. Martinez's fascination w/ outer space, and every song was awesome w/ 20 some odd tracks. I'm sick of critics not giving them their due, let's just judge music by, 'if it feels good, listen to it,' and this is one of the all-time feel good bands. They also put on a great live show.

They've got this song on Grassroots where the drummer launches into this crazy solo & when I saw it live everyone in the band were was playing on their own little drum, like bongos or something for about 10 minutes. It was sick. When they played Hydroponic, so many people lit up that the air was filled w/ smoke

I can understand why people would like them while they are high, but as far as listening to them sober, I don't get it. It's very basic chord constructions, vocal patterns, and lyrical content that (for the most part) doesn't make sense unless you're high.

Mediocre band. They are good musicians however, and could be a lot better.

Yeah, I've heard that before they are great to listen to high, and yes I testify to that. However, I hav become sober over about the last 3 years, and can say they're just as good to hear when you're sober. Go get high by meditating and then listen to them, the positivity bleeds into your soul. Meditation is definitely the best high I've ever felt, unfortunately it takes a little bit of work, rather than drinking a 6-pack of Bud, or lighting up. The only caution I would have about meditation is don't expect immediate results, it takes work like anything else. But, like I said I've done almost every thing you can do to get high, and nothing compares to meditation. Anybody who says it's boring or too serious is just not at the point in their life yet when they feel compelled to meditate, but I believe that day will come for all of us.
