Yeah, that's a good one too. Is it a cover of a Slapshot song? If so, I was never aware of that before.

No. It's an original as far as I know and from their best album: More Noises and Other Disturbances. It's a lot edgier than later releases.

Yeah, I've owned More Noises and Other Disturbances for years, but the image on the YouTube video seemed to imply that "What's at Stake" is cover of a Slapshot song. If it is, that's news to me but I wouldn't be surprised since both bands come from the scene at the same time.
I dig More Noises and Other Disturbances but I have to say I disagree about it being their best. My favorite is probably their first album Devil's Night Out, the album "Hope I Never Lose My Wallet" is from.
EDIT: Ah, according to Wikipedia it is a cover of a Slapshot song. I never knew that!

I've been to ska shows though im not an avid listener... I always saw it moving in circles kinda like skipping stutter step. I'd like to try it next time im @ a ska show.
Strangely enough, this is the first MB thread I've come across that's devoted to dance. Is that just me, or does MB under-represent dance ?
Anyway, if you want to try legitimate skanking, you gotta learn some steps, I guess - otherwise, as someone said on page one, it's just dancing.

It reminds me of two things, one: the Pony, & two: how they use to dance in Ska bands. I am not sure when and where the term originated. But it seems it evolved and cross genres. Ben Carr from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones has been accused of "skanking," but I don't know if that is what they called it back in the 70s.
In Ska, I guess it can range from the very subtle (like Ranking Roger) to more elaborate ways (like the whole Selecter band). The Mighty Mighty Bosstones always seem like a Two-tone revival band, and took everything they could from those bands, even their dance moves. I guess it takes America a decade and half to wake up to what's happening in the UK? nah j/k ("I kid, I am a kidder.")
