favorite reggae song
so, you read the title, get crackin. and be sure to say a little blurb about why ya like the song.
my favorite has gotta be it was written by damien marley. awesome beat, sick lyrics, and it's reminiscent of his father's music whithout being a knock off. i love the contrast between the really sharp, powderful beats and the more melodic tone and rhythm he takes on when he's singing/talking. so lets hear some of your faves. |
Bob Marley "Buffalo Soldier"
Fo two reasons 1. its like the only one ive heard 2. it>>>you 3. does any of the clash stuff count? |
hmm, clash stuff, alot of it has reggae influences, but i dunno if any on the reggae undertones are strong enough for the song to actually be considered reggae. on a tangent, which song by the clash would you say has the strongest reggae feel to it?
|
No clue whiteman in in hammer..something is reggaeish and so guns of brixton but not really that reggae just wondering if it count.
|
nah, probably not, but check out damien marley's stuff, you'll love it. basically everything off of halfway tree is awesome.
|
practically anything of what i've heard from bob, but now i'm really into patrice, some german guy, my fav song is 'no excuse'...
|
Mine would probably be Hold me tight by Johnny Nash. Because...... it makes me jiggle... and I just love to hear the words "fussin and a fightin." Such fun! The harmonies sound pretty on the no lyrics bit too (does no lyrics bit make sense??).
If we're talking The Clash then I'd say Revolution Rock could easily be classed as reggae. |
