Rockers (Reggae Music Film)

Does anyone Know if a soundtrack album is available of this film?
The film features appearances many reggae greats from JA................
Gregory Issacs, Burning Spear, Big Youth, Jah Horsemouth (plays the central character) , top drummer. Too many others to list.

Yeah, The Harder They Come was a much better "reggae movie".

True about the soundtrack being good. For me I like the movie a lot. You say not so good movie. That's cool obviously, people tastes differ. You never mentioned why you don't think it's a good movie. I'd be interested to know.

Really I guess its not a BAD movie, but its more of just a bunch of reggae. Not that Im complaining because its good music but the movie itself has no real strong plot or nything. Its a Pretty fun art house type movie but as far as dynamic story telling, yes Id rather watch The Harder They Come

You're quite right the film lacks a strong plot. As already said the music is v/good. A friend of mine watched it a while back and also like the reggae, but complained as he thought the acting was on the whole pretty poor.
For me the beauty of the film isn't about convincing portrayals but about the music and the reality of life within the communities depicted in the movie. It convinced me with it's rawness. The film was made I think late 70s. If that was made now I reckon it would have been described as a docufilm or fly on the wall.

Babylon (not the sci fi movie)
has got to be the best...
for those of you who have not seen it..
you have not lived!!!!
the soundtrack is not bad either...
what do you think?

Rockers was Oceans 11 inna reggae style. The themes were really subtle in that film. I especially liked the scene where Horsey and Dirty Harry crash the disco club and play de roots mon. It was Jamaica rising up to make their own identity, apart from British and American culture. And now look—Jamaica is on the same level of worldwide influence as the two "majors" US & Britain.

Haven't seen Babylon.

Sly & Robbie's Word Sound and Power is supposed to be another good reggae film. But I've had a tough time finding them at my local vid store.

you guys have left out one of the best ''reggae movies'' eva.

Country man

soundtrack was so good.
Bob marley, Steel pulse and Toots and the maytals among others.

-quick spoiler-
Jamaica Goverment is trying to hold the white man down, oddly enough. and Countryman is there to help the said white people w/ his vast knowledge of the elements (i.e the weed)
