I love both reggae and ska what matter most is the quality of the song. Reggae music from Bob Marley is the best... I also love sublime...

Original old school ska was awesome and bands like Sublime, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra and The Specials are great but I think Reggae beats it. I think most ska bands today are more influenced by pop punk than original ska music. Much of Ska's subject matter I think is geared towards high school misfits (not fitting in, cheating girlfriends, etc.) whereas Reggae tends to deal a lot more with serious cultural issues (prejudice, racism, religion, self empowerment)which give it more weight for me. I find that there are a lot more quality reggae bands around than ska bands. Obviously there are great bands in both genres but I still think collectively reggae wins.
