Sean Paul
HE HAS MADE IT IN HIP HOP SO QUICKLY...HE'S SEXY, WHICH IS VERY RARE FOR THE REGGAE SINGERS, HE HAD GREAT PRODUCERS, GREAT VIDEO DIRECTORS, AND REALLY GOOD DANCERS, BECAUSE THEY MAKE THE VIDEOS , OF COURSE JUST SEEING HIM DOES ALOT... WHAT DO THINK, ARE OTHER JAMIACAN PEOPLE INTO HIS MUSIC, OR DO THEY FEEL HE'S CROSSED OVER? I DON'T KNOW...YOU TELL ME HOW YOU FEEL

I'm not a huge fan of Sean Paul. I like some of the stuff he does, but overall I think he's sold out to the mainstream fans. He's changed what Reggae is suppose to be to be more of a Popish thing. I'm not a huge fan of that.

He has catchy rythyms but lyrically his music has no .."depth" (for lack of a better word). I find thats a major problem with almost all mainstream reggae and hip-hop

I do think he's crossed over to some extent, but the good thing about that is that he's brought a hint of Jamaican music to people who might otherwise have no contact with it. By the way, your post indicates that you are Jamaican. I'd like to no what you think of ska music (which is the roots of all modern Jamaican music). I find it strange that the vast majority of ska fans these days are white (like myself). Do any young Jamaicans like it, or do they just see it as their parents' or grandparents' music? |
