Sly's original version was pretty lacklustre on the otherwise gorgeous Stand! album

the main reason I didn't like it because I was expecting to hear Slave's lyrics and I didn't hear that. I was like wtf is this? lol

i can't even find Sly's original album version on youtube, this is Little Sister's (Sly spin-off group) version:-



which doesn't sound much like the original

I used the zune software to listen to the original. That's how I know that it sounded similar to the reggae vid you posted but I wanted to hear Slave's version.

i'm not familiar with Slave - i awiz thought they were a one-hit wonder who used to be an obscure 70s funk group
