King Tubby and Lee perry pioneered Dub which is an instrument heavy remix style of reggae with lots of reverb and echo. Desmond Dekker and Toots Hibbard were the forerunners in the rocksteady sound of reggae which added a soul and funk edge but mainly soul. They were both making records a lot earlier than Marley.
