To me that sort of thing is just pop music and nowhere near what I look for in Ska personally, but they could serve as a good entry band for people wanting to get into the scene I should imagine.

Yeah try real big fish, but I would agree that street light are unique with in the genre. You should also check out New Groove Formation they take the old style and bring it up to date. I caught them in London with Neville Staples excellent live band. A couple of ladies on the horns as well which was nice to see.
