Reggae that sounds like this song?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2-TFoujNeU
Some really over-the-top happy positive and modern "use a lot of effects" production type reggae. I have a good amount of roots stuff, some classic dub, and some dark dub, but I think one thing I am missing is the really clear sounding upbeat stuff. I know the original had some sad lyrics but this reggae cover, musically sounds mega happy. thanks |

I take it you have listened to all of Easy Star All Stars? including the most famous one Karma Police with Citizen Cope?
but I dont know what you mean by Clear Sounding? Do you mean having vocals that stand out and or vocals that don't have an Island accent? Sorry That I dont give ya some examples... Just curious what you mean. Edit... Maybe something like Blue King Brown? Last edited by Cadrian; 02-16-2010 at 07:27 PM. |

by clear I just mean modern production.
and sorta like that but with a lot of more ridiculous effects and stuff. Makes its sound really massive, you know? and it doesn't have to be female vocals, any type is sweet for me. Mostly anything that sounds similar to Lonely Hearts Dub, with the overly happy sound and stuff. Last edited by Muzak; 02-16-2010 at 08:44 PM. |

I didn't find Easystar AllStars to have a ridiculous effects so that kind of confuses me.
effects would be something like I guess..... The Bug Maybe something like John Brown's Body is more Easystar like I think Maybe youll like Cali P he puts me in a pretty good vibe Sorry I feel like I am just randomly suggesting stuff.... I am not good with Reggae and understanding its differences besides roots from contemporary. Even though I listen to Reggae alot am usually listening to Reggae Influenced music. Let me know if I need to stop making suggesting, I got more but not sure if I am going in the right direction. |

Alright a Couple more....
Dubmatix... They have a cool John Brown Body remix out there as well. I am Curious whether you have looked into bands like Soja? if you like them their is like a whole reggae Influenced genre you might be missing out on. This thread makes me want to make a thread.... on contemporary Reggae and Reggae Influenced music, seems most of this whole subforum is based around people arguing what is Ska and what isnt ska or root/dub reggae from 60's into the 80's but I rarely see anything new, but maybe I am missing something. |
