Default The Wailers

I just read that Junior Marvin is going back out on tour with Al Anderson and Wya Lindo as “The Original Wailers”. That will be interesting to hear. There have been quite a few different incarnations of The Wailers over the years, and for me, nothing beats the OG band with Bob, Bunny and Peter Tosh at the core. Anyone care to disagree? Has anyone heard the ‘new’ lineup?

For reference:

The Wailers: Bob Marley, Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, Cherry Smith, Carlton Barrett and Aston Barrett.

Bob Marley and The Wailers: Bob Marley, Carlton and Aston Barrett, Junior Marvin, Al Anderson, Tyrone Downie, Wya Lindo and Seeco Patterson.

The Wailers Band: Elan Atias, Aston Barrett, Keith Sterling, Anthony Watson, Audley Chisholm, Chico Chin, Everald ***le, Brady Walters and Cegee Victory

The Original Wailers: Al Anderson, Wya Lindo and Junior Marvin

I cannot disagree that Bunny, Bob, and Peter was and always will be the greatest incarnation of The wailers that has ever been.
Junior has been touring with The Original Wailers since sometime last year, and it should be noted that bob and junior didn't hook up until around 77'.
As much as I love Junior and have appreciated all his efforts to keep The Wailers Torch burning since Bob's death in 81', I really have to say that bassist Aston Barrett is the foundation of the roots reggae sound that most have come to associate with with Bob Marley and has been leading The Wailers musically from the get go and still continues to tour with "The Wailers" (as opposed to "The Original Wailers"). I'm curious, does this mean there are two distinctly separate, but active Wailers bands, and if there is, is there any animosity or tension between the two Wailers organizations.

actually that is one thing i have always been confused about, but never really put much into the way of figuring it out. i like bob marley and the wailers enough as well as just the wailers...but never enough to really sort all this out i guess.

I'm under the impression there are at least two active bands featuring original members that are currently touring. I have no idea if there is any ill feelings between the two. There is certainly room for both from my perspective, but I can understand why they might catch feelings.
