Best Bob Marley song

pick you favorite Marley song :drummer:

Blue 04-09-2009 08:46 AM

I don't think you can really do a poll for a favorite Bob Marley song because there's just too much. Mine is probably Waiting in Vain, but I also love Concrete Jungle, Stir it Up, No Woman, No Cry, How Many Times, Redemption Song, Natural Mystic, Trenchtown Rock, Revolution, Time Will Tell and Roots, Rock, Reggae.

jackhammer 04-10-2009 11:56 AM

None of those. Exodus probably for me due to that pumping bassline and Waiting In Vain has a great melancholy feel to it.

Piss Me Off 04-10-2009 11:58 AM

Jamming for me, absolutely timeless.

Schredds 04-10-2009 12:00 PM

Iron Lion Zion is my favorite.

jackhammer 04-10-2009 12:06 PM

and what about this awesome tune too?:

Janszoon 04-10-2009 12:14 PM

Not trying to be the douchebag who posts the earliest song they can think of but "One Cup of Coffee" seriously is one of my favorite Bob Marley songs:

NSW 04-10-2009 12:24 PM

I've always been partial to "No Woman, No Cry".

spark10036 04-10-2009 12:29 PM

mine is Redemption Song

Bulldog 04-10-2009 12:52 PM

I think I've said a few times before that I'm not the biggest Bob Marley fan, but I'd go for One Love out of that lot.

jackhammer 04-10-2009 12:55 PM

He is probably the least listened to in my reggae collection but he was a great icon for reggae music no doubt.

Oh yeah, no doubting that (I still think Exodus is a very good album), it's just that there's so much reggae out there that's better, as I'm sure you already know :)

coryallen2 04-10-2009 03:21 PM

I just put up the most popular songs by him so that there would be atleast 1 song that everybody knew...and loved

That's fine but you are also getting an education and hearing some songs you may not have before ;)

coryallen2 04-10-2009 04:05 PM

good point =]

barbarella 04-12-2009 04:10 PM

Exodus, Waiting In Vain, And This One Which I Don't Think Has Been Mentioned Yet-

Antonio 04-12-2009 04:15 PM

Buffalo Soldier is a beauiful song

Shoe 04-12-2009 05:16 PM

I really dig Mr. Brown and Jammin'
Don't know my favorite though.

Mr. Brown is a great tune.

Gavin B. 04-13-2009 10:59 AM

This song, One Drop helped me make through many a hard day and it still does. The message of One Drop is to maintain the faith even when Babylon beats you down and "makes the world so hard."

It's been nearly 30 years since Bob passed on to Jah glory but I still have a hard time watching a video of him without getting feeling an emotional choke.

FaSho 04-13-2009 11:00 AM

From that list it's gotta be three little birds.

Flower Child 04-13-2009 12:58 PM

I've listened to my fair share of Marley but I keep goin back to Natural Mystic

out of your list, I pick Sun Is Shining

Davey Moore 04-13-2009 07:45 PM

Hey why isn't Redemption Song up there. One of the greatest songs of all time.

The Monkey 04-14-2009 08:05 AM

No Woman, No Cry is decent I guess, but he really is quite overrated.

Zarko 04-16-2009 06:17 AM

Bob Marley never released anything...

Now if it was Bob Marley & The Wailers you were talking about... :p:

Concrete Jungle would have to be it.
Redemption Song is another one of my most recognisable favourite. As well as Roots, Rock, Reggae.

Thrice 04-18-2009 02:11 AM

No woman, No cry. So cliche but I love it.

His music quite bores me, but I have nothing really against the guy. I think he gets undeserved attention seeing as they're other better reggae musicians that aren't nearly as hyped as Marley.

He gets all the extra attention because he's thought of as a lot more than just a musician.

TheBig3 04-18-2009 12:54 PM

we should judge rock starts on the amount of illegitament children they had.

bob marley is a god.

Derrick Morgan and Desmond Dekker, for example.

Roemilca 04-21-2009 03:25 PM

Probably "Africa Unite", followed by "Buffalo Soldier" and "Could You Be Loved".

rocksteadydaddy 04-25-2009 12:06 AM

to be honest, those songs are pretty weak. Bob's best tunes were made on the wail n' soul label and when he recorded with Lee perry.

danknina:] 05-09-2009 01:33 PM

one love. BY FAR.

krissi 05-28-2009 11:20 AM

"i an i is a wailer" - bob....

why just remember bob as the legend.... what about peter tosh or bunny wailer? bob never wanted solo fame.... he wouldnt have wanted this!

my faves:
heathen/waiting in vain/rock it baby/slavedriver/natural mystic

i voted for could you be loved ;)
