There is a version of Redemption Song that starts off as an acoustic version then about half way through, the band comes in and it turns into a full reggae beat? I know I've heard this somewhere but I can't remember which album it's on?
I play a lot of one-man reggae and do I think five Bob songs, I like them and most folks recognise them as opposed to some of my one-man Gregory Isaacs which most folks don't know. Still play them anyway... I like 'One Love' because it seems to sum up a lot of what he was about. |

there's so many...he really wrote for every occasion. i tend to prefer his older, raw, funkier stuff before he attempted to crossover. but even then, his being influenced by african-american artists like curtis mayfield and james brown were evident. I love "feel alright" for it's raw joy, and "send me that love" for it's emotion and minimalism.
but really, you can't talk about early bob without talking about peter and bunny. and on many of their best early work. bunny sings lead. check "let him go", a beautiful song. that's bunny singing! bunny was bob's favorite singer. I wish i could post the youtube videos, but until i have to wait get 15 post Last edited by Berkeleyboy; 02-28-2010 at 08:12 PM. |

I agree with Blue, there is simply too too tooooo many Marley songs to have a poll on the subject. I personally have trouble picking favorite anythings in general. Latley I have been digging on the original recording of one love, and also judge not, and one cup of coffee.
Them early Marley recordings, are soooo good. As well as most everything else I have ever heard from him. |
