True appreciation comes when you get past bob marley and realize how rich and diverse the genre and its history actually is.

re Smith - I was being sarcastic, thank christ

re pot - I don't think you need it, but it's basically an intrinsic part of reggae's production and development from ska, and part of the the listening experience if we're talking dub.
I've not smoked for at least a year, so I'm not advocating it as being absolutely necessary for enjoyment of the music, I think that's one of the alienating factors for alot of people who don't get reggae.

re Bob - I was never into Marley personally, missed him out completely. Do I need correcting?
