Well I literally just heard of raised fist as of about 5 days ago. My friend sent me a copy of some of their music and stuff. And they're a german group and they rock.

So if you haven't heard of them i suggest you do.

And I would never join a band if their name was raised fist. It's so not cool. But at least their music is.
I'd quit my bands if they changed their names to Raised fist. I'm sorry.
I don't know if this common sense, logic, hormones, or sugar talking. But it doesn't matter cause I'm listening to green day. And nothing, not even nutter butters, cute guys with long hair, or skateboarders will keep me from listening to them. Purple kool aid might though. That and I've got mashemellows and ice cream to go with the nutter butter.

so true. i don't know how many times i have seen people say "i love ska my favorite bands are less than jake, catch 22, mighty mighty bosstones, and streetlight"

some of those bands are good, but i would hardly consider them to be good SKA. i'm mostly into the earlier part of the third wave: the toasters, the slackers, hepcat, the pietasters, mephiskapheles, johnny socko, the scofflaws, ednas goldfish, and eastern standard time, just to name a few. but you also gotta appreciate the 1st wave skatalites, peter tosh, the wailers as well as the 2nd wave the specials, bad manners, madness. ska goes so much deeper than your less than jake catch 22 bull****. there's difference between ska/punk and ska.

yes i do like those bands as well..maybe not the glow skulls so much but yeaah. i actually really love streetlight. i'm just sick of people saying they are a great SKA band.

Acctually the toasters play 2tone and Peter Tosh was more of a reggae guy but I know what your saying. Most every band I've seen listed on these boards has just been a punk band with horns. My personal favorites are most UK 2tone. Lots of fairly obscure stuff. And traditional ska. I dont buy in to that wave bull **** though. I dont care if people like ska punk but you should at least know the difference. Hell even I like Leftover crack, but at least I know what real ska is.

So do you know of any ska bands that arnt on Hell-Cat or Victory? Desmond Dekker aside. Im sure you heard of him because of something someone posted.

the whole third wave thing started with the toasters and moon ska. they may have a 2tone sound but they were really the first real third wave band in the states.

are you questioning my knowledge of music? im sorry, but i am very sensititive about that and am greatly offended by your unnecessary cynical questioning. i do not on the other hand question your music taste/knowledge, one because i dont care, two because you're a prick and you'll probably come up with an irrational argument just for the sake of arguing. If you wish to discuss music on a mature level, thats great, because i listen to a variety of music and can probably hold some good conversations. but if you're going to continue to be a b*tch, then :finger:

The toasters are a 2tone band. Thats all there is too it. All this wave theory stuff is bull **** anyway. As far as I can tell most people who talk about this wave stuff use it to refer to when ska became more popular. That and most people refer to "3rd wave" as all the ska punk bands out there. The way I look at it is if you want to divide ska into waves of its popularity than there is around 10 waves of popularity. the problem is that people divide ska up into "waves" rather than styles or genres. People throw every rocksteady,ska,and dancehall track into 1st wave. The toasters are a 2tone band. They carry a deffinitave 2 tone sound and were influenced largely by 2tone bands. They are not a "3rd wave" band as 3rd wave isnt a genre of music.
