I personally love Streetlight Manifesto. I don't really like there lyrics though...
I also have to agree that they aren't all that 'ska'y, though genre's do change. |
Streetlight Manifesto, great band. I checked out their stuff recently. My favorite songs would have to be Down, Down, Down to Mephisto's Cafe or Watch It Crash. Watch It Crash has the best horn parts ever.

I'm glad I'm not the only person on the internet with an irrational adoration for Streetlight Manifesto. And somewhat on topic, I think that their music is just more proof that ska tends to absorb any genre it touches through osmosis. I can certainly see why ska fans wouldn't necessarily like them, because they don't really share a lot of common ground with pure ska- but I just love it.

There a great band, they got me into ska eventhough they arent that "skaish" What do you guys think of the new album?

I love Somewhere In The Between, it feels like Tomas spent a lot more time actually writing the material then on his past releases (which I suppose he did considering the last release before SITB (ignoring Keasbley Nights) was released half a decade previously).

seeing them live was the greatest experience ever. i've been to a lot of concerts and the energy there was incredible. it was so fun and they sound so good live!
|
Well considering that I am listeing to them right now for the first time, they sound pretty awesome, and a little like Big D and the Kids Table .

But without evolution in ska, then there wouldn't have been a two-tone movement in the 70s or actually, maybe more importantly, no reggae. |
they are a very good band. i am not a 'ska' guy and i like them a lot. i should take the time to look into some other ska bands, i may end up liking them.

What's another catchy song by them?
