Default Is Ska Timeless And Ageless?

Ska is the only 40 year-old music I can think of that still has a youth following. Other types of music as old as that (such as merseybeat) don't attract many teenage fans. Yet ska does. A few years ago, a television music show hostess described ska as 'that blend of Jamaican reggae and black American jazz that just won't go away'. She wasn't precisely right about the origins, but it certainly doesn't go away! Any thoughts?
