No, people came around on Hammer.

On Ice, you're completely right. You forget that he's also a 1 hit wonder.

Unfortunately Vanilla Ice is also a legend. Maybe a pioneer of what we call today 'meme rap'. Maybe you can credit that to Hammer too, actually.

How you gonna hate on Vanilla Ice?

Maybe.

I’m just tossing a name out there. I hear Nas all over the place but not really Tupac. Could be my bias and what I listen to but I kind of, maybe incorrectly, suspect Tupac of be far more popular than influential. I’m a little hesitant to go too deep into that opinion because, I forgot what it was, but we were arguing about hip hop one time and it started to get really obvious I was wrong and then I was embarrassed. Do you remember what it was?

Him and biggie are basically there 2 most influential rappers.

They defined the modern bad boy/gangster image that is the default fir most modern, mainstream fans

The thing is it's hard to know who's really influenced by Pac because musically he doesn't differ much from any other gangster rapper he's just the biggest name so he's the most influential of that era.

And the only thing I can remember was something about Denzel Curry not being what you thought he was and saying that you got mad because you take pride in your southern hip hop knowledge.

Not really anymore. The default existed prior to 2Pac because of NWA and Geto Boys. ICP were trying to emulate it off of them and I'm sure the same goes for 2Pac.

But that stereotype kind of got a rock thrown at it after Kanye West who's probably just as, if not more, undeniably influential on the state of hip hop today. The image portrayed in hip hop now is more so influenced by 36 Mafia than 2Pac. Dark, moody southern drug loving depressed kids using Satanic imagery.

I don’t really hear it but Nas was a fan.

I think the lineage goes directly from Rakim to Nas. That’s how my ears hear it.

We all concluded that he's corny on the first page. It's mostly about the merit of ICP's status as hip hop legends.
