Could emphasized, which means that it could also not.

Like I said somewhere elsewhere recently, I avoid "serious" MB discussions about politics and such because there's just too many strong opinions with flimsy backing.

Not really a holier than thou attitude. When I studied, I did learn to recognize an argument that would stand up to scrutiny in an academic paper from one that wouldn't. But I don't consider myself very able to make solid arguments about serious things. I just choose to stay out instead of having to regret what I said later.

Many people would rather have their heated discussions regardless. That's how it becomes an endless cycle of mudslinging - because no one is doing anything to further the discussion. It just quickly stalls and people keep repeating themselves.

Yes, but he never once mentioned their ethnicities. He criticized their lack of verbal aptitude, which is found in all races, unfortunately.

Except Nicki Minaj doesn't have a 'lack of verbal aptitude' and has never given anybody any reason to think she's half literate.

If you really want to break it down...

https://www.narcity.com/entertainmen...-about-cardi-b

Hey look, I was absolutely ****ing right in guessing that English is her second language. So her trouble with speaking english isn't from an inability to read, it comes from it being a second language.

And guess what? She also speaks fluently in french! So **** out of here with your bigoted bull**** calling her half literate for speaking broken English when she's completely literate in 3 different languages.

All I'm interested in is if there's any direct way in which Addidas' original statement gives any direct reason why he sees the two ladies as being half-literate. Seems clear as day to me that it doesn't, so we're down to making assumptions, which I'd rather not do.

For that matter, when people say over the top stuff online, you'd tend to think they're not being entirely serious, right? Isn't it to take Addidas' original statement in bad faith to assume that he really means it dead seriously when he calls them half-literate. In most contexts that have to do with ranting on the internet, I'd assume that a level headed, serious take from the same person would be very different and much milder.

Thing is, with this statement alone, calling Adidass a raging racist is bit of a stretch, but to sit there and pretend like nothing about the statement could come off as bigoted in any way is naive. He's talking down on these people like they are lesser beings. Could be because they are rappers, could be because they are minorities, it could be completely out of class. Could be a hidden bigoted thought that he never realized was there. I don't think Frownland is that out of line, or is just baiting for being rubbed the wrong way about it. Agree with him or not, you have to at least see where we are coming from. I think most level headed people, like you, do see. So there really is no point in arguing. We just disagree and move on.

But these two **** wits, they don't ****ing care. It's not about Adidasss or the possibility of him being a racist. It's about Frownland and their deep rooted hatred for him. They both refuse to acknowledge the validity to our point of view purely out of spite for Frown. You've seen how Kiiii gets on this type of **** too. Kiiii becomes a self righteous vigilante **** when it comes to the mere hint of anything taboo yet he's defending it now purely out of spite of Frown. It's the two people that spend half of their time trashing everything Frown does that are really arguing and are the ones who resorted to name calling.

And if you want me to break this down further, the reason why Frown is hated by his haters is because he challenges people's ideas. He provokes a dissenting point of view. Valid or not, trolling or not, that's all he's doing. And the people who think he's the scourge of the forum for it are always the self righteous ones that are too full of themselves to ever admit that they could be wrong. They are the brick walls that have to resort to making everything personal when given a dissenting point of view. They are so full of themselves that they just can't stand being questioned. Especially when the challenging points have huge weights of validity socking them right in the ego.

MicShazam 11-04-2018 04:46 AM

Absolutely all I'm saying is that we're stuck at "could". That's my whole point.

I don't really care whatever weird arguments you're gonna make to attempt getting around a simple fact.

Wanna paint someone as racist? Use clearly problematic statements of theirs against them instead of trying to make a winner out of a weak piece of evidence.

Frownland 11-04-2018 06:56 AM

Yeesh, we're still defending racism here?

MicShazam 11-04-2018 06:59 AM

*facepalm*

This is why I'm not trying to ever have discussions about anything but silly stuff in here.
I'll stick to that from now on, thank you.

DwnWthVwls 11-04-2018 07:52 AM

Having a negative opinion about people is racist.

Lucem nailed it.

I'm still pretty sure only 3-4 people posting in this thread even know what the beef is about. Otherwise we'd be talking about cardi's insta live vids.

MicShazam 11-04-2018 12:30 PM

My guess is that their beef is about something incredibly interesting and relevant.

And probably nothing petty.

WWWP 11-04-2018 12:46 PM

Racist.

Let me explain something to you.

Racism is taboo. Just like cousin ****ing. Or child rape. People that are racist are shunned. Nobody just comes out with their racism. The way you find a racist is through subtlety through comments like this. It's like testing the waters. Some comment kind of off like this one, and if people are down with it introduce more of your bigotry. There are countless times where seemingly small comments like this lead to bigger things. More times than not somebody who says something like this is a racist. Maybe this is just something that Americans experience.

Now, am I going to paint Adidasss as a racist for this? No. I think the comment is bigoted, but I don't think Adidasss really thought of it that way. Maybe he'll reevaluate his views and change or maybe not. I don't know. But the idea of him being maybe at least a little bit secretly racist comes from Frown's observation that he consistently makes off comments like this. This is a perspective of Americans that constantly see these comments from the sad abundance of bigotry around us.

Honestly, if you don't see how calling somebody 'half literate' for speaking broken English is bigoted in any way, I have to go back to you being naive.

The Batlord 11-04-2018 01:24 PM

When did I ever deny that that's a way to see his comment? I've posted it below for a refresher and I still say that there's no way to say, just based on that comment, if that comment is racist. Do I need to draw a diagram? I'm re-iterating my first line because you just don't know how to read: When did I say that you could not make assumptions about Addidas' motives, based on the below comment? You can. I'm just saying that, strictly speaking, there's no way to say for sure just based on that comment. Now I've repeated everything twice in the same comment. Will you get it now?

Unless you're talking about the Nazis or the Klan racism in public generally does not have a smoking gun and demanding one will allow subtle racism to exist without recourse.

I literally explained this to him and he just called me an idiot. Let that wonderful precious man be naive of the ways of this cruel cruel racist world that he has been sheltered from. He reminds me of a better time, a more innocent time, prior to finding the reality of this hateful planet.

We read what you're saying. It's not complicated. We're saying that at times you have to be precipitous to deal with toxic ideas that are difficult to nail down. It's not necessarily the most logical approach but the reality demands that it is logical.
