Music is obviously subjective but, personally, I think there's a significant distance between the two. Karate sound effects with some bass don't quite compare to the glorious soundscapes Jamie is able to produce.

and thats where OBFCL comes in. RZA was doing more than just karate sounds and bass. Rza was a one man hip hop symphony on that album

I think RZA is a fantastic producer who created glorious soundscapes without needing synthesizers on the early days, and I think when he started to venture more into the synth stuff he gave up his bread and butter. It's comparing apples to pineapples really. A better comparison to RZA is Madlib, DOOM or Jay Dee.

Very true as how el p and rza dont have many similarities at all, but i was posting that because he said the gap was quite sizable, i dont think it is

And I think El-P has made some of the best hip-hop albums and he totally changed the game, but the dude is almost like a big beat producer, and the same goes for Zach Hill from DGs.

My post was obvious hyperbole, but the tracks you posted don't really do anything to change my mind (and it never will be).

His post 2010 stuff has been pretty "big beat" heavy, if I understand what you mean... But the dude has been making different kind of beats for decades, and is a master of it.

I mean, this is the best song of all time and it don't even bang.

p.s. Aesop deserves some credit. Dude has been releasing top tier stuff for ages, and is a great producer.

Nah, there are plenty of discographies out there that at least hold up to El's. This thread's for all of 'em.
