Is Mumble Rap Punk?

It's less punk in sound but more punk in the attitude where they are essentially creating a movement of DIY hip hop with much less focus on technical structure and what is traditionally celebrated in hip hop. Hip hop celebrates complex rhyme structures, they go for simple ones. Hip hop celebrates creating a message, they dumb theirs down with an almost nihilistic response. Hip hop celebrates focus on lyrics, they will repeat the same thing and often times fail to fully pronounce what they are saying to the point where the lyrics don't even really matter as much as the melody.

Edit: And they often times just don't give a **** and refuse to bow down and respect the traditionally celebrated hip hop artists just as punk would do with bands like Led Zepplin. The only difference is this movement is much more mainstream despite how anti they are pulling from counter culture genres such as goth or emo or punk or black metal.

That’s an obvious truth but it’s hard to wrap my old man mind around because the content is so subversive compared to anything that was mainstream in my youth.
