I felt like there should be a thread to discuss our favorite underground artists.
Go ahead and list off your faves and banter away. Also we can talk/discuss why they haven't hit mainstream or even if they want to in the first place. Slaine just released the album Slaine is Dead and it's pretty dope.

Would you say Aesop or Immortal Tech are underground?

I'd say that being an underground artist is directed towards less exposure to the public, thus the word "underground". But it's a web of many opinions and cannot be directed towards one single point. To me an underground artist is someone who avoids radio play and avoids famous interviewers, but still maintains a fan base big enough to maintain.

Imo underground artists are usually independent but there are a few that are signed to what is considered an underground label. If they don't have nationwide mainstream exposure. They aren't getting radioplay, they don't make it on the Billboard Hot 100, they don't show up on MTV when they play music after hours.
