I do have a thread like this and yes I've been super busy. I'll throw up some stuff later today.

Louis Logic - Mean Streak

Huge fan. Pretty grimey, sexual lyrics, but his creativity and flow are fantastic. This particular song is more mild than usual, but it's the kind of track I'd like to hear more of from him.

Sage Francis - Inherited Scars

My favorite underground artist.. Love his lyrics, beats, and overall sound. He talks about a lot of depressing real life stuff with some deep lyrics, I've found myself googling to figure out wtf he's trying to say. He gets a little political at times but nothing over the top. Every CD delivers and is different but you always know it's him.

What's the name of your thread? Post it in here. I want to look it over.

Papoose
I feel like this guy is the oldest underground rapper around. I'm not sure what stopped him from going mainstream but he's been around for so long cranking out mixtapes.

Yes there are other rappers that have done this same thing but I feel like he's the first rapper I've ever heard doing it.

Alphabet Aerobics dropped like 5 years before Alphabet Slaughter, unless you meant it's the first song of it's kind that you personally ever heard.

From what I heard back in the day he spent too much time waiting for a better record deal than he was being offered until his hype train finally ran out of steam. It doesn't help that the whole yelling thing turned a lot of more mainstream-minded people off.

Yeah, my personal experience of hearing a song of that type. Who did Alphabet Aerobics?

Oh okay, you were dropping singles from every rapper on the list in the thread. Why don't you start it back up? Also that's the type of thing you could have had in a journal but like you said earlier in that thread. You realize that you aren't that great about writing in detail about albums. You could either do the track by track reviews of albums or you could just pick out your favorite singles from an album and explain what they mean to you. I'm not like forcing you to start up a journal but give it some consideration.

Oh is that what happened? I don't think his hype train has run out though. Maybe it's because I'm local to where he's from. People still hype Papoose and go to his concerts and ****. He sells out arenas and concert halls with his wife Remy Ma.

Jae Millz

idk if I could call Jae Millz underground since he's signed to Cash Money or was. I don't think he's ever had an official debut though. He does have loads of mixtapes though.

I'd say that being an underground artist is directed towards less exposure to the public, thus the word "underground". But it's a web of many opinions and cannot be directed towards one single point. To me an underground artist is someone who avoids radio play and avoids famous interviewers, but still maintains a fan base big enough to maintain.
