Eminem was actually an Esham biter. Being as how he used to try to sound like Nas until he got **** for it then adopted a crazy alter ego to match the theatrics of every other Detroit rapper at the time that was blowing up like Esham, ICP and House of Krazees. He's even been accused of taking the idea of Bonnie & Clyde from Murder Murder Murder.

And then there's Cage. The OG crazy white boy.

I'll take your word for it Lucem. I'm no Eminem expert, I always thought his delivery was similar to Chino's though. By the way, are you a fan of Chino? I've always considered him to underrated AF.

I've forgotten about Cage until your brought him up. I'm a big fan of 'Movies for the Blind'. I don't remember if he was similar to Eminem though as a rapper.

Unfortunately, I've never listened to Esham, though I'm familiar with the name. He's a horrorcore rapper, right? I'm a big Brotha Lynch Hung fan and have seen his name mentioned along with Brotha Lynch's in regards to horrorcore.

I never knew Eminem used to try to sound like Nas. Does he have any songs he's released that could be characterized by this mimicry of Nas?

Oh, he definitely had songs that touched on the same **** **** from Eminem's horrorcore songs. They were both the back packer crazy white junkie psychos.

Even before then was his Mudbone stuff. Not the best because the recordings were rough but, yeah.

Esham is a complex rapper. He's an experimental rapper that kind of pioneered the horrorcore style and is the root of what modern horrorcore is but his music and influence goes beyond that. His rap rock definitely had a part in influencing Kid Rock. His horrorcore is literally what created ICP and HOK. Him talking about shocking topics and drug addiction definitely influenced the Slim Shady character. A lot of his music was inspired by doing tons of acid, he he called his music acid rap, and that was a huge influence on Danny Brown. The problem with Esham is he's usually outdone by the people he inspires. Eminem was infinitely much more successful with the "wicked ****" style. Of course ICP and Twiztid (HOK) are both much bigger and much more successful icons in the horrorcore genre. Danny Brown's Atrocity Exhibition is Acid Rap done better. It's basically what Esham tried to do with DMT Sessions but lacked the talent to do.

I’m a casual fan of both. I’d say Esham is a better rapper but BLH has better promotion and ambiance and is more entertaining.

I'll definitely check out Esham. And I love Danny Brown, but haven't heard his latest stuff. Last record of his I peeped was 'Old', which was, probably for me, the best rap album of the year (god, what was it, 2014, I think?)
