It takes a true genius to rhyme shit with shit seven times in the same verse.

Yeah, just not that much these days. For years I was one of those "You can't spell 'crap' without 'rap'" douches, but then GTA: San Andreas came out, and I went on a gangster rap binge that gave me somewhat of a crash course. I've listened to more off and on since then, but I've never really done an in-depth exploration past some of the mid-west cracker rappers a few years ago.
Can't live without Wu-Tang though. I've been too lazy to really go in-depth through their discography, but 36 Chambers, Tical, and Supreme Clientele (the only Wu records I own) all get heavy rotation when I'm in a hip hop mood. Probably my fav hip hop album of all time has to be Bone Thugs' E. 1999 Eternal. The melodic, yet hard-hitting flows, and the atmospheric production really give it a creepy vibe that I can't get enough of. TLDR - Yeah, but not all that often. I always mean to listen to more, but get sidetracked by yet another metal band/sub-genre I haven't heard before. Quote:
And I never say "They're so bad I love them." I do love how dumb they are, and I won't deny a certain ironic fixation on them, but there are many artists just as worthy of derision who I don't give the time of day to just cause I don't dig their music. I legitimately love certain ICP albums as much as I love many of my favorite "non-****ty" albums. I feel pretty much the exact same way about Manowar. Not to mention I find ICP's schtick to be unique and entertaining in a tongue-in-cheek, low-rent horror/fantasy kind of way. Even if you can't stand their image, at the very least it's recognizable and can't be ignored. If they were a more talented group, they could probably do a whole lot more with the Wicked Clown, Dark Carnival thing and make some pretty cool concept albums or something with a more immersive mythology. One of these days I'm gonna make a playlist of all their Dark Carnival-themed songs just to see if I can cobble together something like that. Honestly though, I can only listen to so much of them before their two-dimensional music gets old and I have to avoid them for about a year, but every once in a while I will go on a hardcore binge. But, except for a couple Twizted albums, even I can't stand much of the other juggalo groups. They're either actively repulsive to my ears, or just so bland that I don't know why the artist(s) even bothered.

Good post. Batty you'd like Liquid Swords I reckon, that's the best Wu CD in my opinion. The beats make me want to kick a cat in the face.
Have you ever listened to any Outkast? You'd probably like ATLiens as well. |

A bit. Aside from the radio singles I've only listened to Stankonia. Nice ****.
