rakim:
honestly he laid the framework for what a 90's rapper is supposed to sound like and for that i have to thank him. his influence is beyond measure. that being said, his classics are really just him bragging about how good he can rap again and again and again and again. there is no depth to him as an artist. no personality. just the archetype of what an MC should sound like. |

"Deep Space 9mm", "The Nang, The Front, The Bush And The Shit" and the title track.

Sorry Goof. I don't like El-P all that much in general, just not for me. Notice my lack of activity in your RTJ thread?
|
I know the point is to trash on good emcees but I still want to argue back haha. Although that is a really good point against Rakim.
|
el-p-wise, 8 steps to perfection by company flow is probably my favorite track. i enjoyed fantastic damage a bit and i have a cd copy of i'll sleep when you're dead around somewhere, but i haven't listened to either in a few years at the least

In terms of El-P and Company Flow it's just too hard for me to get into their stuff, I like a few tracks but that's it.

^ I'd imagine you could knock 'em all out using the same complaints in one post.

Big Daddy Kane (I know nothing about hip hop, but I heard him on plug.dj)

BDK has one of the illest emceeing abilities ever. I'd like to see some complaints on him. Could possible be the greatest MC I've ever heard.
|
I don't listen to that 80s **** tbh but I'll try to come up with something
|
I had the benefit if being familiar with rakims music that's why I felt comfortable doing him.
I like kool g too but tbh I really prefer 456 over his 80s stuff |
