let me expand i guess on what i said. first time i heard 36 chambers i didnt know what to think of it. people told me it was "real hip hop" but it just sounded loud and obnoxious to me. it took me a while to digest the sound. same with illmatic. if i was like frownland and only listened to illmatic 4 times then yea i'd think the **** is boring. but once you get accustomed to the 90's east coast sound, it's a glorious time period to explore retroactively. is all i was saying.

it is, it's just something you're not seeing i guess. i mean every rapper you listen to will probably tell you that was one of the most important records in hip hop history. so maybe frownland didn't get it in 4 listens or maybe everyone else is wrong and illmatic is wack.

He's not really any underground head.. Goofle just listens to big variety of music.
Nas isn't for everyone, doesn't matter how highly rated Illmatic is. It's not even one of my fav CDs from that era, and I like Nas. |
