I'm seriously disappointed that this bullshit is a hotter topic than Troy Ave on musicbanter in 2014. ****

The basic gist of what I said was, I remember seeing him on the new XXL freshman class for 2014 and I went to look up his songs to figure out why since I didn't know him.
I don't even think he deserved the spot but then again the freshman class has been a joke for the past year or two. A few of his songs has really good beats but his lyrical skills are just mediocre imo and Joey Bada$$ does the same thing that he does but so much better. What I mean by that is using 90s style beats and rapping over them.

I don't pay attention to XXL but I do see your point. I like the 90s-style beats and I definitely like Troy Ave's voice and flow, it just sounds nice to me despite mediocre lyrics, much more than Joey Bada$$. I dunno so many rappers bore me these days, Troy Ave just strikes a chord with me. And he really does remind me of the old east vs. west coast days without it being a total joke.

Understandable.
Have you heard Maffew Ragazino? You may like some of his material. He has a couple of mixtapes floating around.

Much hate..
It's probably because my thread offered a topic to discuss rather than just linking a ****ty rapper.. Thanks for introducing me to someone I have never heard before but he's pretty awful. If I want 90s beats, I'll listen to 90s rap. |
