I love his first album, and some of the later stuff I guess. People who write off Slick Rick as an old novelty act should lick the balls.

He is very important to Hip Hop and it is a shame that he never gets the props he deserves.

He made story telling into an art form....literally lol It would not have been rappers like Eminem or 2pac if it wasn't for Slick.

I'm not super into him, but I saw him in concert a few years ago and he was very good.

yes yes everybody loves Ice Cube

In fact he's one of the many artists who has sampled Slick Rick's music.

Slick has also done many guest spots and is down with the Wu

Yeah, that too, especially about the acting. He's pretty popular, he's always been one of the most popular 90s rappers. It's not like he's short on hit songs, either. "It Was A Good Day" is easily one of the most overplayed songs from the 90s. It even has a meme on Reddit, so you know he's really made it.

But no, Slick Rick:

One of the most important early hip-hop albums.

Now's here's a little something that needs to be heard....

And, as 'Forward To Death' said, the whole album, 2nd, mmm, not too bad...

His second album "The Ruler's Back" is very slept on. It came out right before he went to jail so he didn't get any promotion for it...but it had some good songs on it.

Children's Story is the track that got me into Slick Rick. Track is hard.
