What forms of marketing have you tried that work?
 

Artists in the hip-hop world use various forms of marketing to get their music out there.

I have seen people use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media sites to share their music with friends and family.

Others take to doing local shows and some tours.

Other people sell CD's and some give them out for free. In hip-hop, a lot of marketing is every man for themselves, yet, no one's cracked what really makes an artist famous and popular -- besides getting signed to a label.

Artists like Kid Ink and The Game have taken methods into their own hands by deciding to be independent.

What marketing methods do you think make artists trendy and popular across the world?

getting on various blogs wouldn't hurt. Soundcloud links. Making good music is the end all be all right

Yes, I agree making good music is definitely a huge factor. But once the good music is there, how do you get people to listen?

Especially if your music is a different style.

I don't like people giving away free music. I think it devalues the product, unless you're already well known or have a cult fan base. Can be good if you're giving it away to promote something i.e. an event but not just willy nilly for the sake of people hearing it.

Interacting with your fan base is key imo.
