Also I agree about Biggie having some songs that were highlighting social issues, but some of the **** he talks about is just ridiculous. He was just as nasty and obnoxious as any other rappers in some of his songs.

ALSOALSO, the opposite of bringing "light to the griminess of New York's poor black communities" is not the opposite of reveling in monetary and material possessions and wealth. I just have to put that out there. What he did talk about in some of his songs was how money was a problem, and then in other songs talked about wealth. That is what is hypocritical here.

I have to say the same thing about Tupac though. Some of his songs and some of his interviews just made people realize great issues in the black community, in education, and much more, and then other songs were just... nothing songs.

tl;dr NOT ALL RAPPERS CAN BE AS KEWL AS MACKLEMORE, U GUYS.

I slightly disagree with this.

Biggie and Tupac were COMPLETELY different.

Tupac has albums where he discusses political, social and injustice issues. Not to mention he actually wrote most of his music unlike Biggie. Tupac was interested in social change. Yea he had some gimmick songs here and there but his entire catalogue does not consist of that unlike Biggie.

Have you guys heard of this white Freestyler Charron that won the freestyle contest on BET?

He was supposed to have a spot on the BET Hip Hop Awards Cyphers for being the winning. It was part of a contract but BET backed out on it as usual. They never fully commit to their obligations.

Something similar happened to Wreckonize but I think that might have been MTV.

I think Jin is the only person to ever get their contract fulfilled but he just ended up making a trash album and Ruff Ryders dropped him.

Not all battle rappers can make decent albums.

Anyways got side tracked a bit. He released the verse that he wanted to do for the cypher but added a bit more to it to make it a full track.

Beat's straight, but what's he actually saying? It sounds nice but what's there that I should actually care about? That's my damage, he's either saying something I've heard a thousand times before or he's saying nothing at all. He just makes it sound nice.

you don't think his perspective is interesting?

Look inside these walls and you see them having withdrawals
Of a prisoner on his way
Trapped inside your desire
To fire bullets that stray
Track attire just tell you I'm tired and ran away
I should ask a choir what do you require
To sing a song that acquire me to have faith
As the record spin I should pray
For the record I recognize that I'm easily prey
I got ate alive yesterday
I got animosity building, it's probably big as a building
Me jumping off of the roof is me just playing it safe
But what am I supposed to do when the topic is red or blue
And you understand that I ain't, but know I'm accustomed to
Just a couple that look for trouble and live in the street with rank
No better picture to paint than me walking from bible study
And called his homies because he had said he noticed my face
From a function that tooken place, they was wondering if I bang
Step on my neck and get blood on your Nike checks
I don't mind because one day you'll respect
The good kid, m.A.A.d. city
i just think its well written and delivered. I agree the subject matter isn't original, but kenderick very much has his own mark on it. A lot more intricacies and humanization with the topic, more so than any other commercial rapper I can think of at the moment.

Its a more mature record than what you'd expect considering it's a label release. The single "swimming pools" being the pop single. I mean compare it to his affiliates who have had to incorporate at least some twerk-able tracks on their releases just to get the record off.

By far the best track on the album.

Why do people have to compare these current rappers to past iconic rappers? Why not just like them for what they do? Why do they have to be the next Biggie or Tupac knowing that that is never going to happen? lol

Money Trees is my favorite on the album. It has a old school 90s outkast vibe that I like. The lyrics are clever too.

Why get annoyed about a rapper being compared to another? We are trying to say which we prefer. No big deal.

^ Because he is not on Biggie's level period. There is nothing to discuss lol

O and I am not annoyed, I just think its funny lol

Just because Kendrick makes a half way descent album doesnt mean he deserves to be compared to an Icon.

Section.80 is a lot better than anything Biggie recorded.
