Really been getting into the Definitive Jux releases. EL-P is an amazing producer and artist in his own right, whilst Can Ox's 'The Cold Vein' and Aesop Rocks 'Labor Days' and 'Bazooka Tooth' are 3 of my favourite hip hop albums since the turn of the millenium.

Voodoo Chile 03-26-2007 08:18 AM

Aesop Rock's amazing. I'd recommend getting the albums "Float" and "Labor" to start.

j.Schaef 03-27-2007 02:00 PM

Get Nightlight, and One Brick Great songs by Aesop rock

Sparky 04-22-2007 05:06 PM

Float is my favorite album by him.
Me and him have the same name too =D!

enemyat_thesix 04-22-2007 06:46 PM

My favorites include "The Yes and the Ya'll", "No Regrets", and "Boombox"--all from Labor Days.

.V. 05-05-2007 02:15 PM

just grab the labor days cd. good stuff.
good to see other people appreciate good hip hop. cheers.

Rock The Substance, Sick Friend, 1000 Deaths, anything off of Fast Cars Danger Fire & Knives and Float, and Daylight EP... Most of his stuff is good. He'll be at Bonnaroo this year, can't wait!

gordonman 05-23-2007 05:35 PM

Not too big on Aesop Rock, just because he has a very strange voice which causes displeasure to the ears.

Though I do enjoy the album "Float."

Bane of your existence 05-30-2007 10:39 AM

"Lucy" I guess is my favorite AR song.

Bane of your existence 06-01-2007 12:48 AM

I thought I wouldn't like him when he signed with Lil John but I thought My Ghetto Report Card was pretty solid.

chumb 06-04-2007 11:50 AM

I think Lucy is probably my favorite too... I love the strings.

Letcha 06-05-2007 06:27 AM

The Nike+ Continuous Run thing he did is pretty cool too, although it's not in the same vein as his other stuff really - Good to run to as well.

Sparky 07-01-2007 06:24 PM

is it just me or has he been getting less and less creative both lyrically and production wise with each new album?

float was amazing, labor days was great, bazooka tooth was just okay...

makes me nervous for the next one >.<

WUDJ 07-02-2007 05:13 AM

Lyrics is wikced no doubt and i think Float is not very good one

Letcha 07-03-2007 12:20 PM

I just pre-ordered his new album from the Def Jux site. Can't wait to hear it.

Aesop Rock "None Shall Pass"
hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=7RGP7KG1

Sparky 08-24-2007 02:45 AM

he keeps getting worse with every album :(

Sparky 08-31-2007 01:18 PM

if your Jesus piece around your neck is bigger than your pistol, it makes homicide okey-dokey, and your God will forgive you. Just show the saints at Heaven's gate you should be on the list. 'I heard he overlooks manslaughter for a tattooed crucifix.'"

"Running from a rabid ring-wraith click basilisk serpentine, in and out of traffic jam and murder scenes. Scrub blood of the AF-152, pick up first degrees. Some toddlers smuggled Tommy guns and crack into the nurseries. Dog, there's a ****ing baby at the door asking for wallets. And those ain't twin Beanie Babies inside his pockets. 2010 sonograms showed the Magnum formed directly out the fetus. Evolution for the young killer convenience."

aesop rock pwns

i get high sometimes 08-31-2007 02:12 PM

dont like this guy at all. i used to be into that whole 'emo hip hop' thing. it is pathetically lame.

sage francis, atmosphere, buck 65, etc.

Sparky 08-31-2007 02:38 PM

hes the only one i like. Sage Francis is awful, along with the others. But i have a sweet spot for aesop, hes been around since like 96' so its not like he just joined up with the latest fad.

ProggyMan 09-25-2007 07:47 PM

I think None Shall Pass was relatively disapponting lyrically...Otherwise he's amazing.

Sparky 09-25-2007 07:53 PM

hes getting lazier with each album.

Bazooka tooth or Float was his best lyrically i think.

ProggyMan 09-25-2007 08:43 PM

FLoat is my favorite.

Sparky 09-25-2007 08:51 PM

me too, most complete album of his. His best songwriting so far.

ProggyMan 09-25-2007 08:53 PM

Do you have the Daylight EP? Nickel Plated Pockets and Alchemy are two of my favorites.

Laces Out Dan! 09-25-2007 10:01 PM

The Daylight EP is my favourite.

Sparky 09-26-2007 02:42 PM

downloading it now

ProggyMan 09-26-2007 04:24 PM

He's in my 5 favorite artists right now. What a genius.

ProggyMan 10-05-2007 06:12 PM

None Shall Pass(Song) is one of the best productions ever. Blockhead ftw. Not to mention the amazing lyrics by Aesop. Rest of the album is barely above average though.

Sparky 10-05-2007 06:16 PM

I thought the production in "none shall pass" was average. Float was more interesting, the hook in "oxygen" being my favorite.

Aesop sounds too mellow in this one, like hes too comfortable. I liked him more when he was paranoid like "big bang" and "babies with guns"

I hope he turns around quick because hes becoming increasingly dull fast.

ProggyMan 10-05-2007 06:39 PM

I mean the song.

ProggyMan 10-08-2007 01:57 PM

I'm seeing him live at the Fillmore on wednesday. Should be great.

ProggyMan 10-14-2007 12:55 PM

I've given None Shall Pass another listen, and concluded that Coffee is one of the most interesting thing's I've ever experienced.
