I took issue with a couple of ideas presented earlier, as a very irregular Aesop listener:

Well, Ghostface doesn't exactly have the best hooks, and a lot of his songs are either practically devoid of them or having ones that sound almost exactly like ones you've heard before. Examples: "All" of Iron Man and Supreme Clientele.

This comparison is so off the wall it seems like it could have been aired on Family Guy sketch. Unless you're relating hyperbole, I really have to question the merit of this claim; and if you are, I'd still contend that, well, Rick Ross is shit and you should probably stop comparing him to anyone.

Quote:
Why people would dedicate so much time in trying to decipher what he's saying rather than just listen to something melody driven, or less chauvinistic stumps me.
To the bolded: Um, what?

To the rest: Does that invalidate modernist literature or drone music? In terms of deciphering and melody respectively.

Quote:
...I am doing so to find out why you guys like him so much.
Is that why you haven't actually responded to anyone who answered your "opinion"?

Quote:
If it is, why not just learn Arabic and translate the Qur'an
Because he's Jewish so we'd translate the Torah.

Quote:
Also, if you're going to reply saying his lyrics are good, etc. That too is an opinion. It is your opinion that said lyrics are in fact 'good'
Well... what exactly do you want us to answer with? A list of allusions? A beat with discernible melody that is (by opinion's measure) accessible? How many metaphors per bar?

If you're not even going to consider anyone else's "opinions," why in the hell should we consider yours?

Well, maybe I should have qualified that I essentially like her as a person after watching interviews and little bits on youtube. I also like her on Skelethon. By no means my favourite artist, but she's quite off beat and I like that.

Honestly, I think she's a really good artist for what she does (that cutesy white people bullshit music). Wayyy better than the Moldy Peaches or Bright Eyes' whiny ass.

Surell, you're notably late to the party and as usual you have answered my earlier excellent posts with a bunch of responses which aren't exactly answers as much as they are counter questions.
I'm no Aesop hater, I think he's decent, nor have I been swept away in the notion that he is one of the greats, because to my mind he isn't.
I have enquired about why he is seen as profound by many and never really got the answer.
However I digress this subject was a stalemate at the time of posting and is not necessary to revisit.
Plus, you listen to Lil Wayne, think about that before you start knocking other hip-hop artists I.e. Rick Ross.

Check out "Ruby 81" and "Crows 2" From Skelethon to get a good taste of his work. His style is unique to say the least, with some of his music you need to see the lyrics to fully understand his content. We know rap/hip-hop is urban poetry, but he takes it to a "whole nuther" level with his lyrics. He's very talented, it's a shame that most lyricists never reach the masses at large, due to the average listener's short attention span. Most listeners want a quick fix, content with no thought. But for people that enjoy quality music with real content, we don't need radio singles to see true art in our poets. Enjoy the songs

It's upsetting, I thought they beat this kind of arrogance out of people over in the UK.

At least I'm asking questions as opposed to, you know, putting my claims on artistic things out there as end-all be-all aesthetic laws.

You certainly didn't talk like he's decent in that last post

You got two answers and you answered neither.

Because you deemed it unnecessary? I apologize, I forgot the argument ended exactly when it began to bore you.

Rick Ross is a Wayne clone without any of the slightly experimental appeal. Can you provide any reason as to why Lil Wayne is worse than anyone, especially Ross? Probably not. I'd provide reason as to why he's more interesting than your precious Kendrick Lamaar and far superior (even an influence) as a lyricist to Kanye, but you'd probably deem the argument beneath you so why bother.

I don't know how you got this sense of entitlement as a debater who makes very little actual debate, but you haven't earned it, and until you can actually present an argument that presents evidence, or reason, or, maybe, an argument, please stop with this aphorism god attitude. You're no Nietsche.

Keep in mind we're only talking about the realm of Pop Rap and decent Gangsta Rap though. Some of his songs are excellent, but he's never really won best rapper alive even from me.

ok in the relm of pop rap i can see where your coming from. the people who he compeats with are clones of him and are at a extrealy low level compared to him i can see where your coming from with that one. and i used to be a wayne fan like 5 years ago during that carter 3 era when i first got into hiphop but i didnt dig his stuff afterwards. I do think kendrick is better even though he has some inspiration from him
