John Legend - Get Lifted
http://cdn.americansongwriter.com/wp...get-lifted.jpg

"Prelude"
"Let's Get Lifted"
"Used to Love U"
"Alright"
"She Don't Have to Know"
"Number One (featuring Kanye West)"
"I Can Change (featuring Snoop Dogg)"
"Ordinary People"
"Stay with You"
"Let's Get Lifted Again"
"So High"
"Refuge (When It's Cold Outside)"
"It Don't Have to Change (featuring the Stephens Family)"
"Live It Up"

This was a good album!
Im not a huge John Legend fan but I really like his first two albums. He tried to experiment with other things on his second album which I thought was cool.

I am not sure what happened after that. His music has been crap as of late.

My Favorites: Alright, Used to Love You, So High, Number One, Live It Up

I personally couldnt get into Ordinary People (its not bad but not one of my personal favorites and kinda overrated) I also think this single doesnt reflect the eclectic production and experimentation on the album.

Overall, I love the mixture of genres and Kanye put his foot in the production!!!! Producing was always his speciality and he delivers on this!! I really love "Alright", I think thats my favorite from the album.

Can I pick the next one?

TBH, I've never heard of Raheem DeVaughn but after a few tracks in, I could clearly hear why you think this album is underrated.

He's basically D'Angelo-lite. That's not necessarily a bad thing but they are similar in a lot of ways. My favorite tracks have to be "You" and "Until" I went looking through his wikipedia and it looks like his second album Love Behind the Melody was more well received. I may end up listening to that second album as well some time this weekend.

Have you heard his most recent album that was released last month? If so how is it?

I LOVEEE this album. I think this album is underrated because the "sound" was fresh and really could have positively influenced the R&B scene of the time with more promotion.I think the single choices were EXCELLENT: Guess Who Loves You More, Ask Yourself, and You. Ironically, they were some of the albums strongest cuts.

Highlights: Guess Who Loves You More, You, Believe, Ask Yourself

Honorable mentions: Sweet Tooth, Who, Until, Is it Possible

I'm a big Raheem fan but he hasnt made an album as inspiring and creative as "The Love Experience". I was fortunate to see him live this summer. Ironically I was suppose to see D Angelo but he got sick and Raheem replaced him lol He is a really good performer.

I know its been 7 years since it was released but I think this has the potential of being a classic...

Thats fine. Raheem is pretty "indie" so thats not that surprising but he is pretty well known in my area but thats probably because he is from Washington D.C area. Yea he definitly has that D Angelo/Neo Soul flaire. I really liked those cuts on the album as well especially You.
I think his second album was more well received because it was more R&B commercial. His music hasnt been the same since the "Love Experience" which is disappointing because I think the direction that he was going with his music was really artistic and daring.

I havent listened to all the songs on his new album but I did listen to some songs. To be honest what I heard was "meh". It wasnt horrible but not as impressive as "The Love Experience". That is without a doubt his best album. I would recommend listening to that entire album first and then checking out his other albums because they are very different from "The Love Experience".

More R&B commercial you say? It might be right up my alley. I liked The Love Experience but I might find myself liking Love Behind The Melody a bit more though.

Nice!!!

I know alot of Jill fans always say her debut is her best but she had some gems on her other releases. She had some nice cuts on this album.

My favorites from this album are Golden, Whatever (I loveeee this song and the video is cute), Cross My Mind, and Family Reunion (I love the 70's soul vibe)

I really respect Jill Scott because she is really sincere as an artist. She writes about her experiences, life and feelings. I wish more artists out now were more like her. She deserves more props as an artist and a singer. She is also a good performer as well.
