I gave it a couple of play throughs and I'm liking it so far. He has a very similar theme to Kanye's about feeling wealthy but at the same time because he's new money getting looked down on by people with old money. He also talks about trying to help people from the bottom where he came from like giving them money but then he realizes just throwing money at them doesn't help he needs to inspire them.

You read between lines too much and think it's okay to put words into my mouth. I'm not implying anything of the sort. First of all, I was taking a light hearted jab at you because I know how much you hate Jay and it seems like you just came in here to shit all over his new album because of that hate. Sure you have your reasons but they aren't as objective as you like to think. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with hating Jay's work even if you have what you think are valid reasons. That's your opinion and I couldn't care less.

Also, if you would have said that you listened to the album in the first place and they are the same generic songs that he always does. This wording just comes off as a statement that I hater that hasn't even listened to the album would say just because the hate the artist. It's funny that you say that. I live in the hood and people are constantly blasting holy grail while they ball on the courts. The first four tracks are in heavy rotation and people are blasting them as they pass by in their cars.


For me, I like 10 out of 16 tracks. Not even Crown and Heaven Fluffy?

How am I reading between the lines when you called me a "hater" simply because I gave my opinion on the new album? LOL There is no reading in between the lines. You said what you said and made it clear. You straight up bashed me and ANYBODY who has any sort of criticism on Jay Z and yea thats childish because everyone is not obligated to like his music. YOU like it... fine whatever I dont care but dont label other people a hater just because they dont.

lol That was not a light hearted jab you brought up a 3 month old discussion on Jay Z that I had with another poster to justify my opinion and my motive for responding to this topic. Weird and irrelevant...... but just know that whenever you challenge any of my posts whether you intend it to be "funny" or not I am going to respond accordingly.

Second, I dont hate "Jay Z" but since you have a childish way of thinking you think everyone who doesnt care for his music "hates him". I dont know him personally to hate him as you say. I just gave an opinion on the man's music because that is the only thing I can judge.

Like I said, you dont dictate how people express their opinion on message boards or what they say. Now if you had said something like "Did you even listen to the album or what songs did you listen too" instead of just making an assumption that I didnt listen to the album that would have been more appropiate. AFTER listening to the tracks I came to that conclusion that it IS the same formula and material so I simply expressed that, period. YOU are the only one that seems to find issue with that no one else here does.

I don't care if people don't like this specific album or hold an opinion different than mines. It's just that you tend to slag off Jay easily because you hate him and wouldn't even give any new work of his a chance before forming a proper opinion.

You don't know me, I'm far from a Jay Z stan. I know that people don't like his music. Your attempt at humor just came off as a typical "hater" type of statement and that's why it was received as such from me especially with your past discussions about him in general.

As I have already stated earlier in this post. It wasn't just a one off blanket statement to call you a hater because you don't like this particular album.

I don't want you to take back anything you said. You are free to express your opinions but when they come off the way your intial statement does then expect to be responded in kind with a similar type of statement. It's just like going into a thread and saying such and such is overrated and walking away without going into details about why you don't like it and why you came to that conclusion.

First off this is my SECOND time responding to any type of Jay Z topic on this forum lol The first time, I ended up getting into a long debate with another poster about his music and then this time I simply made a statement on his new album after listening to it on another forum. So I dont know how you derived that I tend to slag him off when I dont jump into every Jay Z thread here or talk about him obsessively here.

You are talking about that other discussion I had months ago with another poster where I was asked to express my opinion on his music in depth... so I did. I didnt talk about him personally. I didnt bash him as a person. I even gave him mad props in being a successful business man etc However, I gave rational and objective reasons for my criticism on his music over the years so dont know how you derived I am or was a "hater" from my responses. Everyone who doesnt like a artist or goes into depth with their opinion is not a "hater" especially if they back their responses with legitimate reasoning which I did.

That poster was implying that Jay Z's material was better than 2pac, KRS-One etc and Im sorry I COMPLETELY disagreed and expressed that and if you want to call me a "hater" for that... I understand your point but I think its important for you to also know that giving people labels and making assumptions isnt cool. Also, if you have a point then you need to back it up with objective responses instead of calling people "haters" or implying someone must hate the artist just because they dont care for their music. I'm enjoying the album so far. On my second listen. A lot of the lyricism is a clear step up from BP3. Hov gets into religion, philanthropy, racism, and even fears as a new parent. This presents a somewhat oddly vulnerable Jay. I can't say if it's a worthwhile album overall yet though. I did enjoy "Oceans", "FUTW", and "Crown" a lot though.
