UK Rappers

Thread deleted? Why?

Ah well.

Goofle what do you think:

The Mouse Outfit - Escape Music -19 Track Album Sampler (OUT MAY 20th) - YouTube

Being from Bolton I suspect you might already be familiar with these.

Probably a spammer, that's why.

Haven't really gotten much into UK rap, but I definitely know I can't stand grime. The only two UK hip hop artists I listen to on a somewhat regular basis are Mike Skinner and Scoobius Pip, and the latter I find his solo material more enjoyable than his stuff with dan le sac.

As to why the thread was deleted, I can't find anything in this forum so I can't really say.

S'alright, there wasn't much in it anyway.

What is it about Grime you don't like? Mike Skinner, especially his first album, was very, very close to Grime.

LoathsomePete 05-02-2013 11:08 AM

I'm not a big fan of the styles that grime comes from (UK garage, drum and bass, dancehall, etc.) so it makes it hard to get into that style. My admiration for Mike Skinner comes comes almost exclusively from his brutally honest lyrics.

Yeah was expecting something similar to that, fair enough. Makes sense.

Mike Skinner and Scroobius Pip, yes. I would also like to add Ghostpoet to that list.

There was a period of time when I dipped my foot into the Grime scene but I didn't get too deep into it.

I tried out Kano, Wiley, Sway, The Mitchell Brothers, Lady Sov. and Dizzee.

I think I might dig a bit deeper and check out Giggs and Wretch32

I tried to listen to Giggs a while back when he had all the hype, I think he's a one trick pony and don't like his delivery either. Wretch is good at what he does to be fair but tries far too hard to do the wordplay thing imo.

Although saying that, neither Wretch nor Giggs have ever made Grime.

EDIT - Just read this back, makes me sound like I'm being an arse. Apologies if so :o:
