Personally I think 2000+ Hip Hop is better overall than pre-2000's Hip Hop. That's just personal experience obviously though.

I said something like I prefer 90's Hip-Hop but Hip-Hop isn't 'dead' like you hear people say these days. It is quite easy to find good, new Hip-Hop.

it is a common thread that pops up with the same discussion ever so often.

The outcome of the thread leans towards new school underground being better and that you have to do work to find good hip hop today.

Then you will have newbies constantly flocking to the thread saying that Old School 90s rap was better and all of today's hip hop sucks it's all about bitches, guns and money.

Yeah good point actually.

Still though over the course of 9 years threads are going to be repeated, they're good for new posters like myself to let off steam and discuss things.

But... 90s rap was often all about bitches, guns, and money. That was some of the best stuff in the late 80s/early 90s.

Agreed that this is a tired-ass discussion topic though, doomed to poor logic born from limited perspectives. There's a pretty large mix of the awful and the great in all 'schools' of hip-hop.

At least it's a better topic (had it not been played out a million times) than East Coast vs West Coast. What a drab bore that was.

Personally, as a whole, I like 90s hip hop more. I just enjoy the vibes more. That's not to say that there isn't a ton of great post 2000 hip hop because there is. I just like more 90s hip hop.

I'm not sure how to answer this one. Some of my favorite hip hop albums came out in 2000-2005, but I feel like great hip hop after 2005 has been few and far between.

What are some of your favs (2000-2005) that you're talking about Janz? Madvillainy, Aesop, Ghostface, Clipse maybe?
