This one grew on me a bit, but I still only think it's decent and there's nothing too special about it. However, I find myself going back to this more than R.A.P. Music, which is weird because I enjoyed R.A.P. Music more when it came out. Run the Jewels is pretty consistent from start to finish, although the second half is definitely better.

Run the Jewels 2 out this year.

They were so good live. I have to dig through my pics and see if I have any good ones to share.
They even did a new song that they're working on. |
^ agree'd. Met them as well, both real nice dudes
|
Good song choice as well. Looking forward to RTJ2

Spoiler for medium sized pics:
The recorded footage isn't worth showing, it was only a 10 second clip of ****ty audio. |
I've often wondered, what exactly was Killer Mike doing between the time he was first featured by Outkast in like 2001 and RAP Music in 2012 and his alignment with El-P
That's a ten year span where he wasn't making many waves. Just thought about what could have been achieved in that time frame. Looks like you had a really good view for the gig DJ. Looked good. |
Yeah, I only remember him being featured on misc. tracks but looking up at his wiki just a few seconds ago. It looks like he was putting out mixtapes over the years. It seems to be like a two year span between mixtapes though.
Also I was at an okay spot but the zoom on my S2 is really good. I hated when my phone died and I had to resort to using my tablet to take photos. |

El-P is consistently hilarious on twitter.

Killer Mike's been one of my favorite MC's since "Snappin' & Trappin'".

Okay, huge props to this forum for being into El-P and Killer Mike. I actually like each of those artists individually more than I like Run the Jewels, but it's all fantastic music. These two guys are my go to references for idiots who tell me that all rap sucks now. They don't even begin to get enough credit.

Can anyone else hear a little bit of southern drawl in El-Ps verses? These guys are influencing each other to the core I think. Can't wait for RTJ2 |
|
^probably shouldn't have smoked before going on CNN. Sounds nervous as hail
|
he's also going on under the likeness of "killer mike"
|
Thought he spoke very well in that video.
|
^ well spoken as Killer Mark

El-P never seemed so one dimensional as when run the jewels began. They're beginning to seem more like characters and it's no surprise zack de la rocha is involved because they're starting to feel like they have a target audience of adolescent macbook rebel's.
This stuff is so tame compared to that which made me get into el-p |

Mike is certainly toning himself down |
Meow the Jewels
Everybody following El-P on Instagram knows he is into this idea. I'll admit I want to hear it. |

This just came out today...
Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck) ft. Zach de la Rocha I can't decide if I like Zach's Miles Davis line or his Phillip K. Dick line better |

I've have such mixed feelings about this new el-p stuff
El-P featuring zack de la rocha is a turning point regardless of which The hyper repetitive beats are immediatly gratifying but leave nothing to discover, which is one of the best parts of el-p production. No transitions, no switch ups, no progression, just "run the jewels" vocal sample over droaning synth Which would be okay, but this formula has been the case for quite a few RTJ cuts now Hopefully they released it early because it wasn't good enough to make the cut on the final release El-P's rapping has grown to this nicer adult, characterness to it though. His aggressiveness more controlled, in the way of the samurai |
