Missy Elliot
I'm not sure where this thread is best, but let's focus on a great artist (in my opinion) who sets the bar for female rappers. She suffers from a health condition so has been out of the spotlight for a while but is now back in full force with Timberland. She had made a lot of music in the 90's to the 00's and always keeps her records fresh with Timberland producing.
What is your opinions of her? Give some good examples rather than just a simple yes or no. <- her most recent release.

I wasn't aware she had health problems until you mentioned it. So I looked it up and... woah. That really sucks. I'm glad to hear she's doing better.
As far as her music goes, I like her, though I think she sounds best when her music has a bit of an edge and I wish she'd go that direction more often. |

She's definitely getting better health wise but she has to be really careful not to make it worse. She does a lot of dancing in her music videos and perhaps concerts too so that requires a certain amount of fitness. I only found out she was ill this year. Fred I agree she does have a fresh approach. I think she is a born leader, pushing other artists to follow suit. I've noticed on YouTube comments that people thinks she is great but approach it with a lot of Nicki Minaj trashing.

I don't pay a lot of attention to female rappers, besides MIA's Kala album. There aren't a whole lot in popular consciousness of course, but ever since all these female MC's started coming up after Minaj (who I really am not fond of) I kind of felt like the inflation discredited any new lady rappers that were coming up.
I don't consciously think "female rappers are just the worst" and I won't turn off the radio on a female rapper, but recently it seems like a trend, like swag or what have you. And I do love Salt n Peppa of course.
