I don't think you are getting it though Riff Raff is claiming that he isn't a character. He's claiming to just be real and that is who he is when it is obviously not true.

Yeah that's what I was going to say.

I think that they wouldn't have been so hard on him if he was just like real as ****. But he honestly just comes off as a character so much that it's difficult for them as music lovers to feel him.

here's Riff Raff responding to what happened in the interview.

Entertaining enough, but his name says it all. Riff Raff

Well, he once served on a soap as a character who bashed James Franco in Spring Breakers and his pretentious and alienating GH character...on the same network.

While I do admire James Franco to an extent, his treating soap acting as "low brow" did cross a line. Soap acting is the most taxing television performance you're wont to find, with some actors performing in excess of 200 one hour episodes a year.

They work five days a week for, occasionally, all 52 weeks, and James Franco is wanting to demean that? Needless to say, they wrote him off, subsequently casting a solid actor and soap vet in his role to revive it.

But Riff Raff on OLTL? Gold. Solid gold.

I have a great respect for Soap actors/actresses myself in terms of the time they put in, but that doesn't necessarily account for the quality of the performances. And Soaps are very melodramatic in their nature, which is a pretty low form of storytelling, kinda like romance novels.

But Riff Raff is cool.

Aside:

As an actor, I've done comedy, which has received great laughs. I've done drama, which I prefer, which has received certificates and medals. And I've done melodrama (which is what soap acting is) which has been the most difficult of all acting.

Comedy, you wait for the words and your own sense of timing. It gets laughs. Drama, it's really difficult material you have to research, and may incite tears. Melodrama, which is soap acting, is the most difficult thing one could be asked to do as an actor. You have to call to melodrama, which is almost impossible to play, in addition to comedy and drama. As a performer, those actors have their work cut out for them.

Some of them aren't so good (see: Drake Hogestyn) but some are exceptional (see: Kelly Monaco and Roger Howarth)

He has a song out with Far East Movement!

Actually, I think it's FEM ft. Riff Raff.

Anyone hear it?
