i'm not sure we'd ever make very good friends. you're too grumpy.

we're all friends on here i feel like right

not so much doing it for sheer enjoyment as it is feeling some weird moral obligation

im on a super high horse

when google pretentious you get "Attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed" and that seemed like riff in a nutshell to me

I'm not going to read all 15 pages, but did everyone hear the criticism of Riff Raff on Hot 97? Of how he's trying too hard and how his lyrics are ****?

I don't think a lot of his **** makes sense, but it's definitely different, and I think it accounts for something.

I've done enough digging into riffs past to believe he's full of **** myself but i can respect his commitment to the character

I definitely agree he's being a character. I don't know how I feel about it. it's not my culture to be offended by, but I honestly can understand why rappers everywhere would feel disrespected.
For all of the work white rappers such as Eminem have done to gain respect, it really is taking steps backwards to dress and act like Riff Raff does.

But he really doesn't care what people think and he raps so different! I don't know how to feel!

FrigginParadox 06-18-2013 02:23 PM

i need to give him a listen. i mean i love lil b soo yeah...

The idea of a caucasian regression in hip hop isn't whats bothersome to me, i mean used to be kreayshawns biggest fan for ****s sake, its the elaborate nature of riff raff and his hypnotic reality tv-style ploy that i find disconcerting. I swear I'm watching "laguna beach" but except instead of wealthy white girls with aspirations of being models or w/e bull**** it's affluent white dudes living out their fantasies of being hood rappers.

Who the hell are these rich dbags?

One of the guys in that video is mod sun, he's local and got booed for his whole set when i unfortunately had to endure his opening act one night

Well it's kind of part of the same idea.
I'm not saying all white rappers are making rap regress, I'm saying his take on the "rap" scene and his look is making him look like a joke.

This truly pissed me off. They're treating him like crap. Its so pathetic watching backpackers struggling to find something to diss in "new" music. Hip-hop needs artists like Riff Raff. Not everything has to be so god damned real and all that bull****, its about trying to just embrace new sub-genres of the genre you love, and if not, just don't give a **** and keep worshiping Illmatic as the best album in the world.

Characters like Riff Raff is healthy and a good reminder that not everything in music has to be concious and deep. Just smile, get in the vibe, dance, headbang, twerk, whatever. Im feeling him!
