raise your fists!

warrior of metal 04-17-2012 01:45 PM

I hate 2Pac and most other rap artists as well.

Sorry I should add I sort of do like Changes but that;s lifted from a different song.

Engine 04-17-2012 02:09 PM

I kinda like "I Get Around"

By the way, I just heard he played Coachella 2012

The hologram is really impressive. Finally, Star Wars is happening. Wont be long now before David Cameron builds the death star....

Deviouz 04-18-2012 01:44 AM

Prolly have over 500 Pac tracks in ma spank bank, and counting!

Fave songs would have to be Hellrazor, Deadly Combination (with Big L), 16 On Deathrow, Hell 4 A Hustla and more...

That Coachella performance was fire!!!!!!

listen to moar hip hop

FETCHER. 04-18-2012 09:43 AM

The coachella hologram of Tupac was really impressive. He looked proper real, except at the feet obviously.

Dr_Rez 04-18-2012 01:03 PM

Or he is a moonwalking master.

Goofle 04-18-2012 03:32 PM

Anyone else quite sickened by the obvious money making spin?

14232949 04-18-2012 03:37 PM

It doesn't bother me much Goofle, I've never been much of a Pac fan, I see him more as a commercialisation symbol upon his death, a little like Cobain was.

I mean, how many pieces of tacky Tupac merchandise have you seen? Purchased by people who are convinced that owning a poster, or a necklace with his name symbolises that they keep it 'real' in terms of the music they listen to.

James 04-18-2012 03:50 PM

I don't even think he was that great in the first place. Biggie is better in every way.

14232949 04-18-2012 03:55 PM

Tupac is probably the most over-hyped rapper of all time.
He didn't do anything to revolutionize hip-hop itself and a large part of his popularity was down to his feud with Biggie, which at the same time helped elevate hip-hop into the eye of the media, and not his music which for the most part was filler.

Biggie was in my opinion more technically gifted, but at the same time only released two albums, so it's hard to compare him to artists who have had longer careers.

I've always preferred 2Pac tbh.

You're kidding me right? Pac's lyricism actually had a message. He spoke about real issues and about the racial and social tensions of life as an ideologically displaced youth growing up in one of the most oppressive societies known to man. Biggie isn't **** compared to Pac, all he did was rap about partying, blunts, and hoes. Big is the predecessor of Lil Wayne, commercialization, and candy rappers, Pac was a major factor in the rise of guys like Talib Kweli, the discussion of real life issues , and actual hip hop. Pac was popular way before the Biggie feud, which only played a small part in his overall career and driving message.

I just can't see how anyone can say that Big was somehow more significant in his contributions to hip hop than Pac.

Dr_Rez 04-19-2012 11:35 AM

Not to mention Biggz had what 2 short albums? Pac had sooo much more material and was featured in a gizload of other artists work. Really no comparison. And Pac gave Biggz advice on how it would be when he came up and got popular.

This is exactly the way i've always looked at this debate. I like Biggie like the next guy but he wasn't exactly rapping about anything revolutionary. I think Pac gets a raw deal most of the time, but I always found him to be pretty smooth with his flow and he did write some great stuff. It amazes me when Lil Waynes make it big and Dead Prez's don't even get heard.

Goofle 04-19-2012 11:54 AM

Biggie is the better rapper technically, no doubt, but Tupac was a far more impressive artist overall.

I think he has already been b@stardised by his posthumous releases, no need for this hologram nonsense.

It's a shame, but most people just aren't smart enough or care enough to really recognize greatness. Popular music exists for the lowest common denominator, while stuff like Dead Prez is for those who love music, for those of us living the struggle.

Why can't a discussion about 2pac or Biggie ever take place without someone mentioning Biggie or 2pac?

Biggie told some interesting stories in his lyrics.
2pac rapped about his own experiences.

Why does one have to be better than the other? Especially when the two are so fundamentally different? Is it still 1996? I think we can appreciate both of them subjectively.

FETCHER. 04-19-2012 03:19 PM

The east coast is full of bitches like 50 cent. The only decent east coast rapper was Biggie.

So what if pac delivered a message, sometimes. Most of his music is dull, and i really couldn't care less if he paved the way for even more boring conscious rap.

Saying "all" biggie's subject matter revolved around party and bullshit isn't true, either.

When i die i wanna go to hell
im a piss of shit it aint hard to tell

Pac does have a video of him walking around his living room, smoking a blunt, drinking champagne out the bottle, while simultaneously getting head from a lady. So theres that:laughing:

This is also my views? no?

FETCHER. 04-19-2012 04:30 PM

I'm not saying I don't like all east coast rappers except biggie, I just hate the vast majority of them. Edit: West coast is where its at.

East > West IMO

Not that there aren't a lot of dope West Coast rappers but seriously New York hip hop can't be ****ed with.

FETCHER. 04-19-2012 11:32 PM

Those rappers may be good I just prefer west coast. I'd pick west over east any day of the week.

Key 04-19-2012 11:35 PM

West Coast has Seattle.

Seattle has one of the best underground hip hop scenes.
