MF DOOM or Aesop Rock
Not sure if threads like these are frowned upon, or if there is an area to put these in, but basically I wanted to ask the question of you guys.
Who is better? MF DOOM or Aesop Rock Now, I understand that better is a loose concept, so treat your answers loosely (I have my own opinions on the subject, but wanna hear a few others first because I have exhausted this discussion on Twitter already) Edit: I am talking about their abilities as a rapper.

My two favourite artists but I give the edge to DOOM. Better producer, flow, voice and rhyme scheme. I like Aesop better as a lyricist though (I love just sitting there trying to sort through what he's trying to get across in his lyrics, although I wonder if I'm interpreting it "right" most of the time). Both are the complete package regardless.

I understood when there was a debate between DOOM and Del, but I don't see DOOM vs. Aesop to be a valid battle. Apples and oranges. I think Aesop Rock's lyrics and concepts put him as god status for me. DOOM is just, merely, better than most.

I think the fact that they are different is what makes it an interesting discussion. Del and DOOM would become a slightly stale discussion.
I had some guy freak out when I said I think Aesop has better lyrics, content, word play and pacing. DOOM edges him in terms of flow and his voice is probably cooler. So yeah, Aesop for me, and his beats are pretty great in my view.

I would say that my opinion is the exact opposite of this. No way is Aesop anywhere near Doom in terms of lyrical ability when looking at syncopation, word play, and just the overall skill he displays with the English language. Doom has thought of rhymes that Aesop couldn't think of if he had a hundred lifetimes. However, while I say this it does not mean Doom's subject matter is better than Aesops, because at times Doom raps about the dumbest things. Doom's got the vast edge for me though. Beats, rhymes, style, flow, history, all of it weighs in favor of MF for me.
