Default Gorilla Warfare Tactics

Only an E.P out so far (but don't quote me). I am really digging the old school sound and lines like "life gave me lemons, didn't make no lemonade. Threw the ****ing lemons back and busted out the cabernet" are a great play on words.

From the Premier E.P:

Their sound is almost too 90s-throwback for me but the Motown samples more than make up for that.
Awesome.

I find their Premier mixtape a little dull. I swear I heard other stuff (streaming somewhere?) by them that's thick with the Motown sampling. Unfortunately, I think they need that and the Premier thingy suffers from lack of it.

I can't get into that song at all, but i can't justify why.

It's all sounds I've heard plenty of before. The beat is certainly nice, but the

Quote:
"who the **** is dilla kid
who the **** is dilla kid
what the **** did dilla did
dilla did this
did that
pulled a rabbit out the hat
plus left crumbs on the track"
verse really had me cringing. I never thought somebody defending dilla would sound so unappealing to me, but man step that rhyme scheme up son even if it flows nice.

I will definitively listen to more of their catalogue before dismissing them. I do like that beat a lot.

Ha! I feel the same way about the Dilla verse. I guess I figured "oh well, at least it's about Dilla" and gave them a pass but that part of the song irritates me too. The lyrics are also tiresomely repetitive at some points.
