Anyone here Kanye West lately? I love his song "Through The Wire"....


what do you guys think?

I like more about what he raps about then how he raps it. He's not talking about drugs, girls, or money like most mainstream rappers and for that I respect him. I don't think he's very talented, but I think it's better than most of the stuff that's coming out in mainstream rap.

i aree w/ you, he's not THAT good but he raps bout stuuf that he\as more of a meaning then mainstream rap. im just sick of how overplayed the radio is making his music! :pimp:

I think Kayne is doing wonders for hip hop. He's putting it out into the 21st century where other hip hop music lags behind, at least in my opinion anyway. He may be mainstream but he does create some damn good music videos. I.e. the saucey new video for Paranoid with RiRi in it:

Kanye definitely has solid production, he's a talented dude. But for me, his rapping and lyrics are consistently weak, which means I can never really love an album of his. Just enjoy it.

I see what you're saying but I think that's the charm of him. He makes simple songs sound different and yet well produced. I'm not really into rap or hip hop but the electronic flare in his music appeals to me.

What a Joke that this guy is considered an elite hip-hop artist.

I'm a big Kanye fan. People are hating on him constantly, but I think he draws that on himself to get attention. Like the Terrel Owens of hip-hop. Everything he does is crisp and clean though.

His beats are wonderful, and his raps are ok. I'd place a lot of people before him lyrically, but he makes a good song.

Maybe in hip-hop, you either have the ability to write great hooks, or to rap awesomely. With the exception of a few epic prodogies, I mean.

no, in hip hop its more like you either have the ability to produce kick ass beats or you have the skills to write awesome lyrics and deliver them with grace.

if you lean more towards the beats side, you are considered a producer rapper and people don't expect lyrical prowess from you IE. Kanye

You know, despite his arrogance, The College Dropout is an amazing album. The rest of his stuff is kinda iffy and merges in and out of quality, but that whole album is just solid. Even "Last Call", on occasion.

He's decent and I don't mind that he's popular. It could be worse. I wouldn't say he's anywhere near the best out there, even in terms of producing, but it's an improvement over G-Unit or what have you.

For a mainstream rapper, he's quite good. I'd say he's decent overall. The College Dropout was great, but I think he's only gotten worse with each future release.

I guess if you think about it in the clean way....it also fits and this is a textbook song for him. I actually thought about why isn't he in a remix for this when I first heard the song. Someone ninja'ed my mind and made it happen.

I've been liking his new cd, I forgot the name of it. The songs are catchy, but as a performer, he sucks. He performed on American Idol and sucked. Also, on a personal level, I cannot stand the man. He once proclaimed he was gods gift to rap, word for word, no joke. If you're a christian artist, thats cool, but nobody is a gift from god, stop being so full of yourself. He's a douche.
