No, there is certainly a time and place for artists like Kanye and stuff. If I'm out at a club/bar I don't want to hear Dead Prez or Immortal Technique. If you notice I didn't discredit how enjoyable it may be to listen to but please don't try and argue these people actually have talent as musicians. They are a face.

It's just really disappointing that the only rap talked about on this forum is this kind.

and you came into the Kanye West thread to make that point?

I'd take Kanye West over Dead Prez any day
Ever listen to Information Age? It's rotten.

@DJ Yeh, that was about CyHi.

Yes, this thread is no longer focused on Kanye, it seems as good a place as any.

I'm not even a big fan of Dead Prez but I think it's important to recognize such an influential group within the genre. Are you trying to discredit them?

Start threads with artists you want to talk about then. I'm sure at least some of us also listen to some of the same stuff.

Or you can just keep all your underground gems to yourself and complain about what gets talked about on this forum.

Completely up to you.

I have and they got 0 responses, which confuses me because I generally enjoy what all of our hiphop enthusiasts play in plug. I stopped trying.

Ah yeah okay. It is just a part of the forums. I remember creating threads around the time I joined with them going largely ignored then someone else like a mod or long standing member would post the same exact artist and get replies.

Also what CyHi songs have you listened to? Which mixtapes?

The last song I really like because on that mixtape Jack of all trades. Each song is a different profession.

Okay, let's play a game.
Who is a bigger influence in hip-hop.

Kanye West or Dead Prez.

Yup, Mr West. I don't see why I should laud them at all to be honest, they're just Public Enemy but less aggressive attitude towards racism and more so towards the media.

He is just an insanely popular artist. He's good at making popular songs and excellent at selling himself. There is a difference between having an effect on hiphop and being a popular hiphop artist. Eminem for example is someone i would consider influential. What exactly has Kanye influenced? If anything he has taken away from the genre by mixing it so heavily with pop to make those mainstream dollars. I liked Kanye's original work way more than the **** his is putting out now.

Dead Prez and Public Enemy are well known for being some of the most vehement social/political groups in the history of hiphop. They are the reason that sub-genre of hiphop even has ground to stand on.

I have only browsed through youtube, I didn't listen to any full albums because I didn't really like what I heard. That second track is kinda cool, I'll look into that mixtape.
