This is the first worthwhile album Kanye has ever made. The gospel angle comes off as sincere, interesting, and very soulful. Reminds me of Sean-Nós Nua by Sinéad O'Connor in that it’s a talented artist finally cutting the crap and doing something worthwhile.

Really? Because it comes off as a self indulgent attempt to make himself feel grounded during his mania induced delusions of grandeur rather than facing the fact that he's bipolar and needs to be treated for it. Everything on it is about how he's a vessel for god and how he thinks the backlash he gets is comparable to when people turned on Jesus.

1) almost all hip hop is self indulgent
2) obviously he’s nuts; most artists are
3) religion has an historic tradition of inspiring great music

Yeah, but I prefer what he was doing before much more than this. Oh well, different tastes I guess.

He's both, the only difference now is that he went from thinking he's the Messiah ("Yeezus") to accept and serve the Messiah ("Jesus is king")

More like using the idea that he's a vessel of god in the most self serving way possible.

Alright, I like that.
Hence the line "I had a dream I could buy my way to heaven and when I awoke up I spent that on a necklace."
All makes sense now.

Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West join Architectural Digest from inside their minimalist mansion to take an illuminating personal design quiz. Which room has the best light in the house for selfies? How would Kanye describe interior designer and frequent collaborator Axel Vervoordt? Kim and Kanye pose thoughtful questions and give playfully insightful answers to one another, revealing not only how their taste is expressed through design, but where its functionality is influenced by their exuberant kids.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Yeezy 2020 Adidas shoes coming soon, from a Chinese sweatshop near you.

The Batlord 07-05-2020 11:46 AM

I only buy shoes made in good ol' American sweatshops.

Damn OSHA makes those few and far between these days. Used to provide plenty of extracurricular activites for kids after school hours. Thanks a lot Nixon.

You think businesses actually follow OSHA standards.

Imo obviously not completely but they’ve made a big difference

If you get hurt and they weren’t they risk getting sued

Not saying you can always win or can expect fair treatment in court but still it’s out there

And you can report violations

Lucem Ferre 07-06-2020 02:06 AM

They put you in situations where you either cut corners by breaking those standards or get in trouble for not being able to do all the work they wanted you to do. In that way they won't be held responsible if you break OSHA standards because technically they educated you and told you not to do it.

Regardless, they are still pretty much sweatshops.

Their work around for putting me in a forklift despite having literally zero forklift experience (also with narrow spaces because we had a lot of kegs that month which requires a license) was that I was in "training".

OccultHawk 07-06-2020 05:33 AM

I get it but you can file a complaint

Don't want to be fired.

Especially if there was a culture of covering each other.

When I was in the Ebay building the security covered my bosses ass. I told them how they brought bleach in (which is illegal) when I was arguing with them and when I was fired the security guard went around spreading rumors about me.

My best friend broke his back working for an OSHA-skirting scumbag who dropped him off in front of an emergency room before entirely disappearing. Ended his construction career (he was working with this scumbag because of a lack of experience/extreme competition when it comes to working with anyone trustworthy), he's trying to get healthcare before his surgery which will increase/prolong the effects, and he'll have thousands of medical debt in the best case scenario. I thought about posting it in the class warfare thread when it happened but the Kanye West thread seems just as good of a spot for it.

OccultHawk 07-06-2020 02:30 PM

Damn. That makes me sad.

The Batlord 07-06-2020 03:06 PM

I understand his pain. I hurt my shoulder for like a year because I was playing video games in an awkward position.

Kanye West has reportedly decided to call it quits on his run in the 2020 Presidential election, less than two weeks after he first marked his entrance into the race.

According to the Intelligencer, West hired campaign staff who were looking into getting his name listed as a third-party candidate in Florida and several other states, but the team has now reportedly been told the bid is off.
He fought hard! Good run, Kanye!

Well that was a good PR stunt. I don't know why more people don't announce a "bid for presidency", easy attention.

I'm still waiting for a proper sequel to the Life of Pablo. Don't know if I'll ever get it though.
